Not a fun topic, but I believe all of us will benefit from this information:

5 minute read: Pubic hair removal and Molluscum Contagiosum

Pubic Hair Removal and Molluscum Contagiosum

I won’t go into detail about Molluscum. There is plenty of information online.

One thing that is not obvious when you research about it or other STI/STDs, is that someone who has had a full battery of STD/STI tests, including skin culture of one of the Molluscum papules/warts can test negative in all tests, but may still have Molluscum. The reason is that Molluscum occurs only in human skin. Viral cultures in labs do not use human skin in culture tests. Plant or animal cells are used. Therefore, the Molluscum virus will not propagate and the test results will be negative.

Molluscum also has an incubation period longer than the 12 days a culture sits in a lab before results are determined.

If I have misrepresented something, please correct me.
To sum it all up, even if someone has documented proof they are clean (STD/STI free), they may still have Molluscum. Get a close look and make sure those razor bumps are really razor bumps.

Molluscum might even look like folliculitis, but Molluscum papules are most likely to not include a hair follicle.

Enough said. Happy swinging sexy friends!
I hope EVILDOERS finds this post and adds some lighthearted comic relief. 🥴
Some more light reading:

Screenshots of all text less research references from the linked PDF. Now it’s a two minute read.

I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to be catching this live!

Thanks for the info ;)
Good informative post.

Okay, that's better. Now, let's see what we've got here...

Swinging in 2020 with genital mollusks and corona virus.

Of course there's always THIS option.

We have an non-intimate vanilla acquaintance, that caught a strain of HPV and could not clear it, that has had numerous surgeries on her lady parts, and uses chemotherapy cream on a regular basis. It’s unsettling to hear about these sorts of health risk, but to ignore the existence of risk is not at all wise.

There are preventative measures and then there is the luck of the genetic raffle. Most of us in the lifestyle, well most anyone, who has ever been sexually active, even just a little, and probably the majority of adults, sexually active or not, have probably been exposed to some strain of HPV, and most of us never had symptoms and just cleared the virus. Me personally, I’m strep resistant. I actually seem to be able to kill streptococcus through my own secondary immune system. When the kids or the wife would catch it and be symptomatic and start their antibiotics to kill it, I would test positive, without being symptomatic. Go back a day later and I would test negative. Rather than taking antibiotics for no reason I just sort of stayed away from people until they had been on antibiotics for a day. I don’t get sick but I could carry strep until I seem to just kill it. I have maybe been sick three days in the last fifteen years. Mrs. Delicious gets sick maybe four times a year. It’s the luck of the draw. Neither of us have ever had a cold sore, and I doubt we that neither of us have ever been exposed to that virus.

Swinging carries with it higher risk than monogamy. Living an active life of any kind contains some risk and some reward. People say that a lot of swingers are flakes. Maybe they just hold from hooking up until they feel the potential for reward is worth the risk.

I’m guessing the risk-benefit decision changes before and after enduring an STD/STI. I’m guessing most of us would be more risk averse after being infected, but that might depend on the kind and duration of infection. Bacterial infections are seemingly easier to treat (antibiotics vs antivirals).

Molliscum is reported to be self-limiting and can take between 6 months to 4 years to clear! Yikes!
Agreed. Every now and then we say to each other, hey, we dodged that bullet for many years now. Should we quit while we are ahead?

I agree. I believe the doctors also agree and that is why they used language like “could” and “possible”
Human beings are famously terrible at risk assesment. Many greatly fear flying and the risk of dying in a plane crash when statistically they are FAR more likely to die driving to WalMart. It's similar, I think, in risk to STI's in the lifestyle.

First of all, there are many, including this particular one, that are quite easy to contract even while using condoms (we won't even TALK about unprotected oral which is ubiquitous throughout swinging) vs. using condoms for something like HIV which is exponentially harder to contract even without condoms though, admittedly, is a much more serious infection if you do manage to contract it. Bottom line, know the REAL risks and make peace with those risks or take up a different hobby...bowling is fun. *shrug*

Agreed. We must “know the REAL” risks.

I posted this information, BECAUSE knowing (being informed) empowers us to be at peace with consequences AND prevents the spread of disease to others and ourselves as would be the case of self-inoculation of Molluscum.

For the record, a cure or quick treatment for Molluscum is VERY low on the priority list for doctors and scientists. Emotional and social side effects are the greatest concern in people who are not immunocompromised. I would suggest that Molluscum is not a “REAL” threat at all to your physical health. Emotional and social heath are at greatest risk.

I hope this thread doesn’t convince anyone to leaving the lifestyle. My intention was to merely point out some facts that were not obvious to me when we first assessed the risks of participating in the lifestyle.

I would love to hear from couples that have lived the lifestyle for an extended period and have “dodged bullets” so to speak. Whatever you are doing or not doing is obviously working. This doesn’t imply what you have or have not done to prevent disease will work for everyone. Some of us are more resistant/immune to disease.
I like the look and feel of my soft, smooth bikini area. I guess instead of wearing a condom I'll have to wear rubber pants.
