Swingers Forum - Voting with the thumbs up and thumbs down. What does it do/mean?

Previous Post Next Post
Being relatively new here, I'm still learning the ropes of this site. So please forgive me if I have overlooked this somewhere. (the FAQ page isn't opening for me)

In the far right upper corner of each post, under "hide", there is a "vote" with a thumbs up and a thumbs down. What's the purpose of this "vote" and how does it work? Initially, I thought it was something similar to the Facebook "like" function...but now I see that it is different.

Thanks,
C

Well, bummer. At least I'm relieved to know I didn't miss something stupidly obvious!

Other questions: It has been implied to me that one can see who looks at your photos. Is that the case and if so, how does one tell?

Also, is there no way to flirt, or simply let someone know that you agreed with or genuinely liked their post...without actually posting something? Personally, I like Facebook's "like" button for those very reasons.
Don't know how you can view who looked at your profile or pictures. Some sites offer that and there are pro's and con's to that. We have clicked on someone's profile and once we read it quickly realized they wouldn't be a good match so like it to be anonymous. There is a lack of the ability to flirt (e.g. send a wink, thumbs up, or similar). The only way is to reply publicly to their post or send a direct message.

Yup, we've been here since before the beginning (beta) and don't know of any function to see who has viewed our profile/photos. It would probably be a bad idea. But, YES, a function to indicate interest (a "like" or a "wish list" button) would be a good, low-key, way to indicate interest without actually having to contact someone. Then the "liked" person or couple could reciprocate or reach out if they have mutual interest. I'm not holding my breath for ANY more functionality of any kind from the site, tho.

Seriously which they would sell the site to me!!!
Good point about the anonymity of looking at ones profile.

Too bad about the flirting subtleties of the wink or thumbs up though. Seems a good feature to have on a site like this. Another thing I don't see is the ability to look at someone's history of posting, like on other sites (not swinging). When someone's post resonates with me, I think it's nice to easily see what else they have written...to get a better feel for their demeanor, philosophy, etc. Oh well. Can't have everything, I suppose. I'm thankful we have what we have here.

Thanks for the info. :-)

Yes, and if there was such a function, I'd give you a thumbs up right now. Not cause I'm flirting, but because I agree and like what you said. Instead, I have to write this or do nothing at all.

We offered them 50 bucks and a coupon for a free oil change at Jiffy Lube in exchange for Swingular and they never got back to us. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You actually CAN 'thumbs up' a thread comment. No idea if it does anything tho. Probably just transfers your contact info to a spammer.

I have at least a couple times to see what would happen. Saw nothing. Didn't even go up in smoke. I await at my inbox of spam.

We've been getting a LOT of spam lately about hearing aids, AARP, and burial plots. DAMN YOU, Swingular!

It's all coming together now...the one photo dudes stroking their junk that keep popping up in the inbox. Shit. I wonder how many times I actually hit the thumbs up!??? :0)

(and not even a selection of emojis to choose from!)
