Swingular - Swingers

Swingers Forum - Migration Update

line
Previous Post Next Post
It appears that we have fixed all the bugs that appeared from our recent migration. We expected that there would be a few as moving infrastructures is quite the task. However, we had less than we expected.

We always try to account for any possible issues by doing dry runs before our migration but unfortunately, we can't catch everything. This time around, we only discovered two issues: some members were having issues posting to the forums while others did not; and some members were having issues logging in while others did not.

The fact that both of these issues were only happening to some people made it difficult to track down.

However, we were able to find the culprit and have made the necessary fixes.

For those who are still having issues logging in, your browser is holding on to some old session files. You will need to clear all of your cache and cookies related to swingular.com.

If you are experiencing any other bugs that you feel have come from the migration, please do let us know. We can't fix what we don't know about. Please send issues to [email protected].

Thanks everyone for your patience during this migration.
How about not being able to view some members photos?

It appears to be only new members.
Some Update Feedback

The Good -

Clearing the Cache of the browser definitely solves performance issues right out of the box. The site overall is SO MUCH faster; from what we can tell, the lag between page changes or profile loads is near instantaneous.

The Bad -

Touching up on SUBUTCOGUY's comment above, I've seen a few instances of this to be true. The error reads "The requested content could not be loaded. Please try again later."

Another bummer is the mobile version of the site seems to be offline as well, so actions such as posting photos to the forums from your phone wont be possible for the time being. :( R.I.P. Flashing Fridays :(

Keep up the great work, it will get better soon!
logging in through a mobile device doesn’t work for me.

Ah, correct. Thanks for pointing that out.
So I can now post to the forums??? Let's see..............
Success! Thanks.
If you are having the same issue on mobile, clear your cache in that browser as well. We have tested logging in from multiple phones and browsers and can get in just fine.

As for photos, we noticed that the watermark we were using wasn't set up correctly in the new system, which was causing photos not to load correctly. We didn't realize this was an issue because we cache our photos into a system for faster loading but newer photos that aren't cached would show the problem. This has been fixed.

Please keep the comments coming in if you notice something so we can look into any further issues.

Clearing the cache on the phones browser still does not allow the "mobile" version of the site to prompt. Is the mobile site version down or active?

I think what you are referring to is the prompt that asks if you wish to use the mobile site? I will look into that. You can however, go directly to the mobile site here:

Bingo! That’s what I was looking for 😁

Correct, the prompt is what’s missing. Thanks for the link to the mobile site!
We've been using strictly mobile for quite a while now. Haven't had too many issues. This week I've noticed that the site has loaded much faster. Easier to navigate around.
If you click on the contact page it takes you to a 404 forbidden page.
I can't edit my photos...any suggestions?

Can you be more specific? Are you getting an error message. What is or isn't happening that you are expecting?

Paid for a monthy upgraded membership (twice actually). Have both confirmations, but still at only silver level. Any ideas?
Having error messages come up while trying to reply to messages from other members

Time to move the site to the 21st century and make it responsive ;)

I can't use Google Chrome browser to view Swingular.com on my Mac, I have to go to Safari, any idea why that is?

I can't use firefox to log in, I have to use Edge or Internet Explorer.
Here's a new hiccup. When I click on the meetups and try to change the distance it keeps defaulting to 25 miles, doesn't matter which one I click.
Search functionality in Forums is broke. Whenever I click on my post or search any topic in the forums you get the following error/message "Column 'created_at' in field list is ambiguous".
