Is there a small group of couples that gets together one or twice a month for dinner and drinks and play time? If not is there an interest in some thing like that?

Have you hosted before? The truth is, this is a very insecure part of the lifestyle...invite six couples and two will arrive on time, two will change their mind last minute and two will have not remembered to check the calendar for real life events (kids' sports, time of the month, etc) most hosts that I know Over-invite for that reason. Planning gets complicated...
On the other hand, we always need a safe place to meet up/play, so your suggestion has a lot of merit.

Virani has it right, trying to plan and organize a meet for a group is difficult, with most either no shows or tell you they can't make it up front. So it is risky setting up events. But good luck, and hope you have success.
We have been hosting a couples poker game for a couple of years now and for the most part, it is very successful. Yes sometimes it is like herding cats but we usually have 5-6 couples attend each game.
For us, that is a small group and more manageable. Over time you find out who the fakes and flakes are and we just remove them from the invite list.
One suggestion is to have the first couple of dinners in a public place so there is little no work involved for the host couple.

Thanks for the interest and the input we really can't host the house is small and we have four dogs that just are a pain in the ass. The idea of having a group of friends that we all get together for dinner and drinks and possible fun, just sounds like a lot of fun and better then the meet & greets that we have been to. We are open to idea's and that the fact we are an older couple that some folks would have a problem with.
If you plan a monthly meet-up with a hotel suite that's a shared cost, it could be a real potential. Dinner and drinks then retire to the room, or take-out and a couple bottles of wine in the suite. Either way, it might be what you're looking for if you can find a group that is serious and consistent.

We spent the night at Secret's Hideaway in Orlando last week, Now the miss's want to buy a hotel and turn it into a place like Secret's I told her Utah would never allow a business like that in the state of Utah. So we figure go with some thing that would work in Utah

LOL, we were driving though sardine canyon the other night and I said we should buy Sherwood hills and turn it in to a swingers resort.
