The last BBQ could have been better, heart problems had kept me from getting all the windstorm debris completely cleaned up and worrying about a maybe bypass, I didn't pay enough attention to the grill and overcooked the burgers.
But they went with just roto-rootering the artery and sticking in a stent, and the cardiologist just certified me as good as new. So time for another BBQ. Almost nobody ever seems to want hot dogs, but we had some brats last time and everyone seemed to like them, so this time it'll be burgers & brats. The grapes on the vines ought to be ripe and pickable, the blackberries already are, and so are the peaches. Unfortunately, I just planted the blueberrry patch, so they'll have to wait until next year. Also unfortunately, the house is too small so it won't be a play party, unless you're into the outdoors thing, in which case please feel free.
We're figuring on Aug. 28, a Sunday to avoid interfering with anything else. Besides, it's my birthday, so I can figure it's my first birthday party in decades. But I need some advice on starting time before I post it. .
Before we've started at about 2PM. But we were thinking it might be fun to do it later, have a small bonfire, maybe roast marshmallows or whatever. And fires aren't much fun in broad daylight, so if we do that it'll probably need to get going around 7PM or so.
I'm hoping some of you will let me know what you think - if you were going to go, would you prefer a regular daytime BBQ in the afternoon, or an evening BBQ with a nice fire? If you'd like to venture an opinion, please do so soon; we want to post it by Friday, since the 28th is only a couple weeks away; I would have started this process a couple weeks earlier, but I've been waiting on the OK from the Doc before I started working out back again, so I'm a bit behind the time curve right now.
