Swingular - Swingers

Swingers Forum - KUTV News Story on Swingers

line
Previous Post Next Post
Saw on Channel 2 last night that on the 10 o'clock news on Thursday there is going to be a news story on swingers. This should be good.
Did they say what day?
"A former swinger and faithful Mormon reveals the dark side of the lifestyle and how it ruined her marriage."

Hopefully it covers the good sides of the lifestyle too.
Anyone else noticed they used Swingular in the video spot? dum dum duuuuuummm!
This isn't good, and no I do not expect anything close to "Fair & Balanced". That is why many of us prefer to keep it quiet and just between Us. Nothing on TV has ever made the Lifestyle look good or healthy, which is how many of us feel that are in it. Expect to be ambushed at some Party location in the near future, somebody will want to make more of this. Sorry for the negative view, I am hoping it isn't that way.
I'm just glad it's not KSL. I'm fairly certain Deanie Wimmer would NOT leave me alone and would likely pester me to get together for early afternoon gang bangs and stuff.

And bee tee dub, "Fair & Balanced" is Fox. But I'd love to see what a totally depraved cum slut Kerri Cronk could be in the sack. Merroooowwww!
"Dark side of the lifestyle?" Just in time for Star Wars. I see your schwartz is as big as mine.
Thursday night at 10
YES I did NOTICE the websight on it. Maybe that's why admin put water stamps on everyone's pic
Is it sweeps already??!
Can't wait to see who the "former swinger and faithful Mormon" is. I wonder if she'll be hidden in shadow and have her voice altered. Also, will "the dark side of the swinging scene" be revealed to be interspecies ferret sex? Stay tuned. :

Edit: Just watched the teaser and it appears she IS gonna stay anonymous. Go figure.
Come to the dark side of swinging! We have cookies!

See now that's the attitude that pisses vanillas off...when they think we're having more fun (or ANY fun for that matter) than they are...and that we have cookies too.
And just how many couples converting into the Mormon church has caused a divorce? Just sayin'

Gasp! Tens of thousands of swingers here in Utah.

I believe Utah now has a slightly higher-than-average divorce rate. The national divorce rate is 3.4% with Utah slightly higher at 3.6%. The percent of divorced residents in Utah is reported as 9.3% which is the 18th lowest in the nation. Don't ask me how those numbers reconcile. It has something to do with immigration into the state I am guessing. New Jersey reports that 8.5% of it's residents are divorced and that is the lowest in the nation.

Well what do you think? Did more than 3.6% of all the swinger couples, that you have met end up getting a divorce? Was it over swinging? Are more than 9.3% of the swingers population divorced? This would include all the singles now swinging that were once married. One woman telling the media how swinging ended her marriage is anecdotal at best. Do I believe she is telling the truth? Yes I do. Do I personally believe swinging ads an extra element of jeopardy to a marriage? Yes I do. Do I believe there are quite a few people that would be happier staying away from the swinging lifestyle? Yes I do. Never-the-less, most of the couples, we have personally met, that are swingers seem to enjoy swinging and frankly enjoy doing it together. Do I believe there are quite a few couples who will enjoy swinging? Yes I do, we certainly have enjoyed the lifestyle experience as do a lot of swinging couples we have met. In the end if you are a married couple you have to make the decision based on the two of you, as to whether or not swinging is a good thing in your lives individually and as a couple. As for statistical models as to the divorce rate within the community of swingers well there aren't any. This isn't really a news story it's sensationalist journalism designed to attract viewers. Anyway, the divorce rate has been going down since the 1980s and swinging has been on the rise since the 1980s so you could make an analogy that swinging is saving marriage. Yes it would be a bunch of anecdotal bull shit just like this story.

Right. And swinging doesn't end a marriage anymore than cheating or lying or alcohol abuse or drugs, etc; people end marriages. Any relationship is an invention solely created by those people involved and only they have power over its progress forward. Will swinging or discussions about it lead to problems between people in relationships? Potentially. But any attempt by the anonymous lady in the story to blame swinging for anything is an attempt on her part to avoid accountability.
You can't blame the alcohol itself for the drunk.

PS, NJ may have a lower divorce rate b/c it's one of the few states that still grants annulment instead of divorce in certain cases.
Nothing seems to piss off Mormons (arguably the most vanilla of vanillas) more than the thought of someone having more fun (or ANY fun, really) than they are. We should all be totally content with the ward ice cream social followed by a good solid 5 minutes of missionary position sex under the covers, right?

Of course then there's the concept of this being highly offensive to Jesus. It baffles me that a deity would be so much more concerned with what we do with our genitals, and with whom, than with things like war, pestilence and famine. Unless of course doing non-approved things with our genitals directly causes those terrible things (pretty sure a lot of people think that's the case).

Either way this should definitely cause an uptick in new accounts on Swingular (as well as more than a few lookie loos) so those who are nervous might want to lay low for a little while. I also imagine this story will send multitudes of chubby little Mormon housewives scrambling for the software they used to find their husbands' Ashley Madison accounts.

And I thought it was all that Frankie Valli music and strolls along the Jersey Shore that rekindled the romance in Jersey nuptials. [/quote]
"Oh Frankie, it's so magical when we go down the shore and watch the waves bring medical waste in!"
This is also my first comment on this site. Normally I keep to myself but I have to speak about this. I am a divorcee and now me and my lovely, amazing, sexy, new partner are living happily together and we are swingers. She was in the lifestyle before and I was a little bit before also. Me and my ex were not on any site and didn't do it regularly but I think three times we had done something with other couples. In my case our marriage was in a downward spiral and it was not because of the swinging. It was not going to work no matter what. Of course she would bring up the event during an argument but there were many other issues that's caused more serious problems.
I watched the link and from what I gather this gal is not that attractive ( at least to me ) and she has a sour taste in her mouth about swingers ( no pun intended ) because they did not have good experiences in the lifestyle. So I put the blame on them for this , not swinging or swingers. We have had some wonderful times and have meant some great friends doing this.
I wouldn't go as far as saying swinging isn't entirely blameless in breakups. We were counting last summer and the number of swinger friends who've divorced over the years was well past 60 couples. The old adage from way back when we started swinging was, "Swinging can make a good marriage better but will almost always make a bad marriage worse."
LOL...I would SO DVR that! And I'd also post a list of local newscasters that we've met at swing parties over the years.
I know why they are scared. Mormons figure if you can get talked into being mormon, you can be talking into just about anything.. old joke, but it works! ;-)
There is also the part about the needs of some to explore life to its fullest and in some cases it is held back by the desire to stay faithful to your partner. Swinging opens that avenue up and takes away the need to cheat on your spouse. In some cases it is amazing to watch your spouse be pleased by someone whether you are taking part or not. Watching my wife be pleased by another guy was an amazing experience and wouldn't give that up for nothing. Not sure that is news worthy!

I hope they do a follow up piece showing how gay marriage opened the door for evil stuff like swinging. Thanks, Obama!

Hmmmm good point. Perhaps I should delete the photo of my telltale dick tattoo. Don't want the fam to find out our naughty little hobby by recognizing my ink.
To each there own. But My husband and i have only tried swinging once. We were not in a rut we were not looking to spice things up it just kind of happened. But i can say the experiance actually brpught us closer together. And we are looking forward to trying it again in the future.
Blah, blah, non swingers talking about a lifestyle they no nothing about.. thank god I don't have tv..
Well, well. Do you think Jason Chaffetz will propose a ban on Swinging, now that it is a threat to heterosexual marriages?....Good one Illustrator.

That would require a congressional committee and an investigation and more waste of tax payer money. Its interesting how in a mormon dominated city that swinging is news worthy. I mean you would think it would be swept under the rug. People always have to find something to blame their troubles on...Oh well.
I wish we could find their profile on here. We could bombard their inbox with all kinds of naughty emails to really spice up the news show tonight.
We could all just get a big group together to go make out with each other outside the studio tonight.

Y'all calm down, take a deep breath, swallow a Xanex or some other preferred object, and pull out your favorite battery powered appliance. This happens every few years and NOTHING ever comes of it. A few years back, City Weekly actually got a couple of reporters into a local swingers party ... and judging from the otherwise rather dismissive article, if you read between the lines, they might have actually had a good time. But the shrouds of secrecy never came down after that, Moroni was still facing east, and we all went about our deviant ways. I would like to say no one cares. But there are the Gayle Ruzika busybodies of the world who care ... because we are having so much more fun than they can ever possibly have. They have been around since the Inquisition. And probably always will be. But remember, in the end it is about how you feel about yourself. And in this day and age, you can exercise your constitutional right to use your middle finger.
Based on the previews, it doesn't sound like it's going to be a positive story. People who didn't set appropriate boundaries and blame the swinging lifestyle for their failed relationships. Even vanilla relationships will fall without open communication, honesty, and trust. At least with this lifestyle, we know our partner is thinking about sex with others. Those in monogamous relationships have to hide that from each other, even though they do think about it.
It's too bad. They had an opportunity to expose more people to a healthy, vibrant, valid lifestyle choice. Instead it appears they will fear monger and use the states natural prejudices to present a skewed and irrational viewpoint from a person who could very well only be attributing their marriages demise to swinging purely to deflect from any other problem that could have been present. Not to mention that she is essentially an anonymous source and unless they can provide any validation for her story it may as well be entirely fiction. Of course it is on local news in Utah so most likely the only people who will be watching it won't know how to work a computer.
We may know who the fake profile is. We received a friend request today. It seems a bit fake and has the text about "spicing things up" The profile was created within the past month. Contact us if you want to know who we think it is. We don't want to say for sure....but it fits what has been described in this thread.

Actually, most of those people watch Fox News so they can get to bed an hour early. I know my parents do. They do, however, know how to work (sorta) a computer...even if they have to call me up every so often and ask me what their password is.

You are exactly right. Every couple of years a story comes out. There's an old KSL one from 2006 still floating around that sounds like it's talking about this website without naming it.

I think it'd be fit that after the expose airs some poor schlub at the station holds on to the profile and finds the key to a lifetime of happiness herein, finally able to be themselves.
So, Heidi has been stalking this thread... Sweet, please friend us :)

We can share stories about how your other "news" friends chose to partake, but not publicize. Your story portrayed a woman forced into the lifestyle. Anyone forced should get out immediately. That is just wrong. The woman "shown" was not a willing participant and was being abused. It's sad that this was not the focus. Abuse in any form is wrong. She could have just as easily been sold on craigslist to spice it up. This was a very poor excuse for journalism. Good luck with your next "story."

I'm sure this site thanks you for the free publicity though. Bring in the new recruits, as long as they are adults and making their own decisions...
Well this lifestyle isn't here to fix broken marriages, and if people are stupid and don't do it sober an use protection for 1 night stands than std's is waiting for them. But if Heidi is stocking this website and her relationship is strong she can friend us lol.
Yep! We have seen couples dicorce. If you are not 100% in love and sole mates that can date togather then maybe you better check out Ashley Madison or contact your ward bishop! I love my Bob and enjoy our friends and every experience we enjoy or laugh about togather. We like what we like and if you don't like us!!!! Well you are probably needing a little therapy! Lol

There's little journalism here in Utah; it's about driving views whose numbers can be used for ad revenue. Titillation drives views. The curiosity gap ("You won't believe what happens next!") drives views. Informing is never considered necessary, only attracting views and/or clicks.
There are hungry children in every county of this state but a salacious and sexxxay story is what they choose to put on the news? Useless entertainment masquerading as a higher purpose.

Thank you for using the word "Titillation"
To add to my comment, Heidi, please only friend us if you paid for a membership, that would be true journalism, doing anything you can for a story. Also, I agree with Cheffette, please feed the children next. A middle class family with kids walking in on the nasty is wrong, but more wrong is starving children that don't have a meal for tomorrow. We as 'Merican's focus on what "titillates" us and we forget what is wrong with our cuntry. We focus on starving children in Africa, but not here at home. Let's focus on US for a change.
Just watched the story on the news and was EXTREMELY relieved it wasn't aired on a Get Gephardt segment. LOL Yeah, so the lady in question said she decided to swing with her husband to save her marriage after she gained a lot of weight (guess swinging is easier than a diet or taking up jogging) and that they went to "orgies" all over Utah...naming several cities and "even Bountiful" (the story showed the Bountiful temple a few times during the piece- she said being a Mormon she felt very uncomfortable swinging in a home within view of the temple). She also claimed that she was at a house party and the hosts young kids walked in. She says she started drinking because going to parties she felt like she was in the 5th grade where you wouldn't be chosen for a team...her husband was chosen to play but she wasn't. She has to go to rehab for her drinking. Eventually she wanted to quit but her husband supposedly refused and started going out solo and gave her gonorrhea. They are now divorced. Heidi Hatch was the reporter and apparently she started a profile and was communicating with couples here on Singular (yes, they identified Swingular by name and showed numerous screen shots and even some profile names) who wanted to make sure swinging wasn't portrayed in a purely negative manner. They also had a totally Mormon marriage and family therapist who talked frequently throughout the story. Here is the link to the story on the KUTV website. Oh, and they mention Habits and Club 90.

Swinging Story

There was a hyperlink to Swingular in the online story that now is inactive. Guess too many Elder's Quorum Presidents were logging in to get their jollies.
Maybe KUTV can send a techie or two this way to get the site moving a little faster. That would be worth a sexual act in of itself.
P.s. Poor little fat girl that realized that your husband was sick of you eating Bonn-bonns and wanted to spice up your life. Don't blame the lifestyle on your actions. Only you can ruin your marriage!!!!! We are free spirited people that love interaction with like minded souls. If you got an STD out of it, you meet the wrong peeps and forgot to wrap up

Swinging Story

Admit it, you'd love to see a Get Gephardt story on Swingular.
Serious consumer protection music fades in and then out again.
Man in silhouette - "I was promised loads of free and easy nookie, a lifetime of it! And at a low, low price. All I got was pictures of dicks even uglier and wrinklier than my own. And this Heidi lady who never even showed up!"
Gephardt nods w/ an empathetic brow furrow. "We reached out to the owners of the website for their side of the story; we'll update you when they reply."
Gephardt grows old over the following decades and eventually dies of old age before owners reply.
Actually we were never in "a rut" but after being force fed the church all of our lives as a young married couple we started wondering what we might have missed out on by being good little Mormons. Almost 30 years later we're still here and still kickin' it. FUCK YOU, Channel Two!
Swingers not getting their money worth in a chat room that often crashes, tonight on Get Gephardt. We'll also explore why single males are forced to pay higher prices than couples to attend parties to fuck other men's wives. Don't miss it on Channel Two, tonight!
Hey Heidi Hatch,
Great job. I smell a Pulitzer for Investigative Journalism. And please feel free to continue lurking in the shadows here and flicking yer bean to my hot nasty photos, you sexy minx, you!

Evil
What did we expect? "Couple celebrates 15 Happy Years of Swinging, story at 10."? Gotta pimp yourself for those ratings, especially when the younger generation wouldn't be caught dead turning on a television to get their news. I wouldn't call that a balanced report by ANY stretch of the imagination. Could she not, in her lurking around this site, have found ONE couple to go on camera anonymously or otherwise to say that contrary to what this woman is saying, swinging has been great fun and enhanced their life as well as their marriage and helped them to communicate on a whole new level? That they know MANY couples who feel the same way and are happy, well adjusted people who work and raise their kids and contribute to their communities? Reasonable and balanced my hairy ass!
Just clicked on the link evil put up and than clicked on Heidi FB and shes got a few new post on there even this Forum of current content. So does this mean we are going to keep it Discrete and welcome her into the lifestyle of fun secure relationships?
GOODWINE5646 wrote:

I was a journalist and I know Heidi. Hers was a reasonable, balanced report that focused on one woman who clearly had an awful experience. I'm sad she focused on a couple who were LDS. From our experience, I suspect she represents the majority who "try" swinging. There was a TV story done many years that was far worse than this one.

Please explain how you define "balanced." A balanced report on one woman's experience? The woman she reports on was abused.
"Looking back, Susan said she feels like she was groomed into the lifestyle." "It was a lot of pushing by my ex-husband, a lot of coercing. He had friends call and talk to me about it." This is typical of an abusive relationship. She was thrown into the lifestyle to cure her relationship, let's also talk about the other abused women forced to do things they aren't interested in, that would be balanced.
Also, "but she contracted the STD after he engaged in solo sex with another woman." Interesting, this solo woman could have been a swinger, a woman he picked up at a bar, a church function, or even a prostitute. Not a very clear report on this abusers sexual escapades.

I'm just glad "Suzan" was still wearing her black ring..
Sorry but that was hardly a balanced report. We will be the first to admit that we have met the least judgemental people of our lives through our experience in the lifestyle. Things don't always click but that should be expected. To give this woman the soapbox and state that people were pushy and basically force you into something was bullshit. Especially after stating that she was the 5th grader that never got picked for the team. She had a bad marriage period. Trying this out with an unstable relationship makes about as much sense as buying a new house and thinking that will make things better. A house does not make a home.
If it was a "Get Gephardt" It would of been the full story vs 1 sided.
The news has never been about balance. They have to keep up with what public perception is. Or they create the public perception they want. Lets not talk about Utah having the highest teen pregnancy rate in the nation... or the fact that Utah and all of the wonderful enlightened mormons have a higher divorce rate than the rest of the nation... Lets talk about one lady. Obviously confused about more than her weight, with a bad marriage to start with. Who as a mormon, decided to "swing" to fix her marriage! Get this woman in a facility and FAST! ... We have enjoyed the lifestyle for a number of years and have an amazing marriage and are very much in love. Which according to her and this news piece is just not possible! God I love Utah sometimes...
We watched it last night. It was totally one sided and from a bitter woman looking to lay blame for her failed marriage. She thought that swinging would fix her marriage. This is the most ridicules thing I heard. First of all if you don't have a 100% strong and trusting relationship then stay away. This is not marriage counseling. Second of all about the STD, play it safe or understand the risk. Third don't throw around the religion card to get sympathy. We are all adults and make choices be adult enough to live with the ones you make. As for the therapist she was way of base bringing in the emotion of love to the swinging world. There is a difference between sex and love, one is a act of the way you treat and live with your other and one is purely to satisfy a animal instinct we choose to satisfy. This was a one person bitch session to get even for her own failures in life not a fair say on both sides.
Her marriage was doomed from the start. Her husband already had a swingular account set up without telling her...swinging just put the nail in the coffin.

On a side note...who swings with kids in the house??????

A lot of people have kids at home and go out swinging. Look how many young couples are on here... Do you think they are all childless? That would be rather naive to believe. But I do agree, the woman had troubles before she agreed to the lifestyle. She tried to save a fragile vase that was already falling to pieces with a sledge hammer. What did she expect?

I said IN the house while swinging...no, I really thought only childless couples swing. Smh
I can't say too much since we were Mormons when we first started swinging (still are, I guess,...technically). But it's been hilarious over the years to meet so many LDS couples who played HARD on Sat. night but left the party early to get up for church the next morning. The REALLy funny ones were those who would email us on Sunday night telling us they were going to quit swinging (Sunday guilt?) and then about Wednesday write us asking where the party was going to be the next Saturday night. One couple we knew did this almost weekly! LOL
A scene from Caligula.

I was likewise disappointed in the showing of Local Team; at the end of all the rounds, the numbers for our side were mathematically lower than those of our opponents. Any true fan of sports will tell you this cannot be allowed to stand.

We get so many comments from our vanilla friends that we have the best relationship and happiest marriage they have ever seen. In fact, we have had total strangers observing us come up and say to me that they wish their spouse were like mr chastity, as loving and devoted to me as he clearly is. If only they knew that our big secret to a loving, happy, long lasting relationship is open communication, absolute honesty, and no jelousy; pretty much the stuff the sums up the lifestyle for those that start with a strong relationship and go into it together for fun and not as a last ditch effort to save a sinking ship.
At the end she said this person experienced it over 5 years ago, so all of this was really Old News. She has since been remarried to a Vanilla. Basically this was all BS.

But why did they have to interview a FAT and bitter girl. If she was as hot and fun as most of the women are on here I'm sure she would've had more fun! LOL

Yeah, there's no such thing as a hot fat person, especially in the lifestyle!

Oh, wait...there's hundreds, and they're having a blast w/ those people who don't care about body size or hotness, but about having fun and being satisfied.

Actually many fat people are hot. But this is a good way to cool down.

The world will never get how our brains work my true lifestylers; there's always going to be a warped view of what and how we enjoy it. They could only dream of experiencing the type of erotica we get to feel. Let's continue to set our expectations of the world and Utah's view, very low, as to not get caught up in judgement, hate or disillusionment. Play on and may we all continue to successfully manage our relationships so we may always enjoy the tantalizing and rich tasting fruit of the lifestyle erotica.
This was typical for what passes as journalism in the great state of Utah. Heidi Hatch appears to be a shill for the Mormon church, or just a bad journalist. Based on my views of the quality of news reporting in Utah, and the influence of the church locally, I will go with both.

One concern this story brings up is the level of scrutiny now on the community in Utah and what the the laws surrounding playing and public parties are, especially where on-premises sex is permitted. I can see our own home-grown morality police trying to force their version of reality on the rest of the population and seek to stop these parties from happening.

Anyone know the laws around Utah for these things?
The article stated that there are alot of that nasty stuff taking place in Kaysville and Farmington. Now why have we not been invited to these sleezy events? We can't imagine our 3 parties a year was what the article was referring to.

Simples

Edited for Evel, looking at it called for a revision.
So we watched the news piece and we observed that the lady they interviewed was rejected at parties and said she felt like she was in the 5th grade again because she was left out and her husband was busy as hell at the orgies they would attend..........this was nothing more than an attention piece on her part. She's obviously jaded.

People ask Joe and I all the time how long we have been married. We say we are on our 11th year (almost 12 together) and they say we act like newlyweds. I'd like to think that our kinky, poly, swinging relationship has something to do with our happiness.
PS She would not have gotten the STD if they had this little thing called "communication" where you tell your partner your needs and they listen then express their own. Her hubby was obviously cheating, convinced her to try it, she didn't like it from the get go, and when the STD story was done SHE contacted the news saying that same STD AND swinging ruined her marriage...OH and she has been with her new hubby for fie years, she should be OVER it by now if she is (as she claims) happy in her new marriage.

I'm fat, but I am sexy as fuck and I know it! I am convinced her bad attitude (she didn't want to be there in the first place) is why she felt left out. News flash*** some people (like my husband) are not attracted to the girls who just go to the parties to get wasted. She would have been off his radar not because of her weight, but because she was getting drunk before playing. My hubby will not play with a woman who is not sober enough to consent to play (I'm sure it has something to do with his Southern Boy upbringing and the rules is our kink lifestyle--safe, sane, and consensual).
Just saw a commercial for KUTV's and the Salvation Army's annual Angel Tree charity for providing Xmas gifts for the poor and needy. Wouldn't it be fun to support this effort by adopting some angels in the name of Utah's swinging community? Hell, we could even provide some kick ass sex toys for some shut in widow or something. I'm betting a few ladies here might know which toys work the best.
Okay but we're gonna put Heidi Hatch's name on the gift tag for the doggie sex doll.
