How many of you have informed your doctor you're in the lifestyle? How to you approach the topic, do you make an appointment and just bring it up when alone? I'm wondering about how others experiences went.
First we talk to him or her a little about church, ask what their job is in their ward, tell them how excited we are for General Conference next week, then tell them we want a full panel STD test every six months because our hobby is meeting strange couples and playing hide the weeny with them.

If you're uncomfortable having this conversation with your primary care doctor - find a new doctor. Having the conversation was uncomfortable, as are most doctor conversations, but we knew our Doctor would give us good medical care and help us with testing etc...
A couple years ago I just told her we swing, that I had unprotected sex a month ago, and need the whole panel. I might be an exception, but I don't really care who knows what I do. Unfortunately, since I'm not paying for it (It's the VA), I can't just get it done on some schedule, like every 6 months. So I wait a month, during which I abstain, after anything happens that might have gotten me infected (getting tested a few days later doesn't work for some STDs, they don't show up that soon), and tell her I need to be tested again. The one thing I can't get done this way is HIV, because I have to see her every 6 months anyway, and they always take blood and the VA's kind of obsessive about HIV and tests for it every time I have my twice a year regular visits. So sometimes she'll tell me I just had an HIV test a month ago or a month and a half ago or whatever, and there's no point in doing it again.

Thanks for the advice, we have been wanting to talk to our doc since we started swinging the first of this year.
It wasn't an easy discussion, but after filling out the forms honestly in regards to # of sexual partners in last whatever months there was no going back. Nurse asked, "Is this # accurate?", I confirmed it was and explained the protective measures I take and that I wanted all the screening they offered though I had no reason to believe I'd been exposed to anything. She didn't say one more word about it - neither encouraging or discouraging. When I get a regular doc soon I'll lay it all out; I don't want a doc I have to lie to, not at my age and so long as I make it clear I'm not only NOT ashamed but love the life I live now they'll see how far their moral judgment will get w/ me.
I'm devoted to my authenticity now, a relative stranger's opinion of my sex life could hardly be grounds for me to lie.

For fuck's sake, so you're telling me that every time you get laid the American taxpayer has to foot the bill??? What kind of welfare state...
(I'm a Vet myself, so I can say it)

As long as Planned Parenthood is funded and running, you can get every test you need at one of their facilities.
That works if you are female. PP told me that they don't take care of guys.
On a related note, does anyone have any advice on how to select a doctor that is lifestyle friendly?
