Well, we WERE going to go up there. Then 2 days ago I found out that about $5K I was supposed to have had by early next week isn't going to happen, which punched a really big hole in the budget.

So while we can still swing the ticket and the trip, a hotel is right out the window. But in an earlier discussion about this, some people mentioned camping up there. Does anyone have any details about that?

And does anyone know what the temperature is likely to be at night? I couldn't care less, I used to spend about a week every year in a tent in sub-freezing temps and at least a foot of snow up in the Catskill mountains during deer season in NY from the time I was about 10, and did the same without the snow but with colder temps at around 7500 feet during Elk season down towards Panguitch the first couple years I was in Utah, but the wife doesn't like the idea of spending the night in a tent until maybe mid-June when things warm up. ~ Terry
Why am I not seeing a price for the ticket? Never mind....found it
We would like to know about camping too. We have a large diesel motor home and we are looking for another HWP couple to share it with for the weekend. We would want to get to know you so at least a drink before we all head up there together. Personality and chemistry are important. Check out our profile and let us know if you are interested.

Just go on the net and you will find several Camping locations right in Lava or close down on the river.
We got a spot in the center of town, thanks
I know in years past we've been in the hot tub at 3 am so hasn't been too cold... could've been the liquor though.....
If you are going to camp you can call the Lava spa Motel at 208-776-5589 for camping sites they have a good rating a few of us are staying there rates are $30 to $45 a night depending on by the river or up on the hill
Staying at the KOA site 12 come say hello
As someone from that area I know you can camp along the river just passed the KOA. If you're looking for a more private spot. Go toward soda springs just before the hill turn left. It's a river road heading north your looking for a place called toponce. Or ask a local how to find "whiskey mikes". It's a private campground with natural hot springs, bathrooms and a river to fish by. A great place to kinky camp.
we've got suite reserved in town that sleeps 8. going to be very spacious with only 3 of us going. not sure of the room arrangement but will surely be something there for someone that needs a place.

Does anyone who has been up there that time of year before recall just what the temperatures at night actually were? I am trying to convince Dana that it won't be too cold, not sure why it worries her, she grew up in Colorado and Alaska, I'd think she'd be used to cold. Maybe she got sick of it or something, I grew up in NY back when the "horrible snow" they had this last year was the norm several times every winter, and I hate snow, maybe it's something like that.

Oh, something else. It's more than one day, if someone could only spend one night up there, anyone know which would be the best day to go up?
This time of year it will get down into the upper 30's to lower 40's this time of year, so we suggest you take something warm to cuddle up to! LOL
Saturday night is the party.....So that will be the best Day to come if you only want to stay one day!
Yep, newbee69 is correct Lava spa motel has both rooms and camp sites directly across from the lava pools. Reasonable prices and with the mineral soak couple of drinks you'll sleep like a baby!
just wondering if anyone else is staying at the KOA
We are staying at the edge water RV park right in the middle of town, cum over and say hi.
hey everyone! We're looking for folks to share the expenses with so we can afford to go. If you're interested, let us know asap preferably.
Thanks!
