Swingular - Swingers

Swingers Forum - NEW FEATURE: THINGS DON'T WORK AND THERE'S NO SUPPORT

Look, I'm sorry, but this is getting ridiculous. The cams and mics in chat went down over a month ago. And the IM. Now the Add Comment. I went into someone's View All/Add Comments, and when I clicked "Add Comment" (yes, the cursor turned into a little hand, like it should) absolutely NOTHING happened. The screen doesn't change, the browser doesn't show that it's connecting to something, nothing. I tried it at a couple other profiles just to see, and got the same results. And another thing. I keep getting logged off, often in the middle of typing a post or an email, or while in chat. And no, it isn't my computer. There's no problem with cookies, neither the browser nor some anti-virus software, nor some firewall is interfering with any cookies. In fact, I went into both of my browsers and checked, and both of them have Swingular's cookies sitting right where they should be.

But all these things aren't what I'm upset about. I'm upset because nobody will say anything to the users about anything. I first sent in a support request about the cams over a month ago, and still have received absolutely no response, beyond that automatic "we got it" email the software sends out when a request comes in. I even tried emailing the Administrator's own Swingular profile, asking if they could please tell us what the problem is. THIS is why I'm getting bent out of shape. There are all kinds of reasons something might stop working, also all kinds of reasons something might take a long time to fix. Even lots of reason that some feature or features might have to be discontinued, either temporarily or permanently. But there is NO legitimate reason to not tell the users what's going on with things that affect every person on the site. At least not for over a month.
Does seem to be getting worse than it's ever been. I've been trying to get a response on an issue for several months...I was getting responses a while back from one of the folks here that was helping with some of the stuff, but unfortunately they didn't have the ability to change anything in your account, etc....I think they finally became frustrated enough, that they quite, too.

Not sure what it is going to take to get someone to pay attention to the needs here. Sure doesn't seem to have much priority, anymore.
Take this info for what it is. ..While at a recent party there were several people talking about this issue of problems and requests not being addressed. Someone in the group who knows someone that knows someone else whose dog was being walked by a guy that knew the person/people responsible for the site maintenance have resigned and the position has not been filled yet. Not sure how true or false the info is. . Just sharing.
....oh yeah.....the dog walker guy......I've heard of him in passing conversations...so, he really does exist ?
Lol...yep..so we were told.
Dunno about the chat/IM stuff. Never use it. But I do know that a while back ADMIN was seeking people to work part time as liaisons and troubleshooters. My understanding was that nobody wanted to do it. I guess you could vote with your wallet and join one of the other sites in the area. There are at least 2 or 3 others around. Or you could join a bigger national site that has fewer people from Utah. We're on two different pay sites but bought lifetime memberships many years ago. Or you could just do Craigslist, I've heard some people speak favorably of using a totally public free site.
Look on the bright side. If ADMIN is MIA then we can get away with more shit. Calling people out in the forums, or saying things that are wildly inappropriate.
TMACA, thanks for the post, I have been having the same kind of problems, log offs, nothing happening when I click on buttons, etc. I have been messing with my computer of and on trying to figure it out, and I'm not real computer literate, LOL, but now I know it's not my computer! Thanks for your post again, they need to get these problems fixed!!!
As I said, there are many things that could be the cause of the problems. But hey, if the problem is that they can't find someone to take care of the tech issues, then WHY the silence? Why don't they just post something on forum saying so, and even saying just what they need? With as many members as there are, I wouldn't be surprised if someone here didn't at least know someone who might be interested in doing it. And just in case cash is the issue, say so. It might be embarrassing to fess up to maybe poor planning, but let people know what's going on, please.
Just frustrating. ...
The beauty of PHP and websites, once you build it, it will run forever. Improvements are needed once the site hits a certain level of sustainability.

The problem with changing sites is the people you lose track of. Especially for us, the wife is new to swinging, and I might as well be, been gone from it since the '80s. We're just now starting to meet people and make new friends, and I for one don;t want to just leave the ones we have. The other problem, here, is how few people from Utah we'll find on other ones if we leave.
if you want to chat on cam then use yahoo chat or one of the many others out there.. just post your id in your profile for others to find...

And once again.. if you think the owners are making gobs of money off this site you are mistaken...
May I suggest that we all get on Google Hangouts. We can do group chat, group VIDEO, group calls.

Or, alternatively, we might start our own site (or offer to purchase this one) and do it right.

I have always wondered where the profit of this business comes from. I know personally that I have received much more pleasure value in the one year that I have been a Lifetime Paid member than the dollar amount warranted.
I can't imagine that there is enough income from this site to keep it running. Now my imaginings have been confirmed.

Any tech-savvy entrepreneurs out there?
I've emailed the admin and offered my services on multiple occasions. I am very familiar with the software they're using for the chat room and other parts of this site. (I manage two other VERY large online communities... unrelated to the adult world.. and we use similar tools)... I know exactly what the issue is with the Instant Messenger system, and I believe I know what's going on with the chat room, based on the errors being returned. Nothing difficult to fix, but does require someone who REALLY knows the details.

All the messages from me offering (politely) to lend a hand have been met with silence.

I'm convinced the admins simply do not care, at this point.

And for the record, if the opportunity presented itself, I would be very interested in buying the site and managing it (both from a business and a technical perspective), if the current owners no longer feel it's worth their time. This site is cake compared to the others I already manage.
The inability to add comments is making things just a taaaaaaaaaaaad bit more difficult for single guys. Y'know, the dudes who need endorsements the most and probably make up a decent portion of their monthly subs.
You SURE you wanna allow comments with asinine arseholes like me lurking about?

And I don't think ALL single males are subs any more than I think all married males are cucks.

Yes.

This is why.
Hey, Dayvan, it's also kinda hard on the Mr.s in couples with a really younger wife who does play alone, when the only comments are from single guys, and the damned thing goes down just when some girl wants to put something nice about him on the profile. Personally, I think it's a conspiracy, directed at me, run by that blue elf from the planet Screwalot, and probably with the secret support of Evil.

But that aside, like it was with the cams when they were down, I wish to Hell admin would at least let us know what's going on.
I think they are holding out against the legal demands of Big Comment myself. Your theory has sound roots in recent history.

Wasn't here for the cam issues. The current chat frontemd could use some help. It's....clinical. Very deskjob. I don't even like Rachel in HR, yet the front-end makes her run across my mind's dick at times.
We wanted to comment on this thread since we have been having major issues with the site for the past couple of weeks. Has anyone heard anything from the Admins concerning the current spate of problems and when they are going to be fixed?

At the end of the day, we pay for a certain level of service and don't feel like we have been getting that on this site for a very long time. We would love to get an update on the service of the site, since we haven't seen anything sent out yet.
So the really bad thing here apart from the inconvenience of some of the features not working is that if no one is maintaining the IT infrastructure, the risk of being hacked and everyone's private photo's, videos and messages being released is a real possibility. In fact if no one is monitoring the servers then this could have already happened.... time to leave this site?
Good feedback guys, and very serious concerns that we have too. At this point our frustration is there appears to be no representation on the site letting the users know what is happening on a consistent basis? A good portion of the site hasn't worked for a while, yet we see no emails or forum threads from the Admins/owners letting us know what is happening and when the problems will be resolved. Maybe we have missed it?

At this point we have paid for a lifetime membership, so they have our money. If we were paying month-to-month we would have left and joined a different site, but they have our money so it is appropriate to expect a minimum level of service and communication.

This is essentially the core of the problem. You can crunch the numbers and figure out that the site really doesn't generate very much cash because of a (very poor, in my opinion) business decision to sell lifetime memberships for $35.

When the site is only generating what is likely just enough money to keep the lights on, you can't expect a whole hell of a lot in return.

I, for one, wish the site-admin would charge a fair price ($60 a year, perhaps.. that's $5/mo) for a membership, and invest that money into the site, and into keep himself motivated to keep the site running smooth. Right now it feels more like his long-forgotten-hobby.

I know 6 years ago, the site-admin was thinking about pushing out a mobile version of the site... for whatever reason that never happened... I've (personally) invested hundreds and hundreds of hours creating a mobile version of this site (https://SwingRing.io/ ) and never received even so much as an acknowledgement or thank-you from the site-admin for doing so. (I'd be happy to donate the entire project to him for free, if he'd even acknowledge the effort)... And in fact, with his cooperation, I could make the app 100x faster and easier to use.

Just more proof that we're all floating in limbo here.
Damn. Damn. Damn. Was hoping the problems were just my computer I made from Popsicle sticks and mud. I have been creating a website for a few years and it is up and running, but written in Ruby and is setup more like a Craigslist or KSL site. It does have an adult section, but not sure how I could integrate it. I have a programmer who maintains it and checks the servers and such, but I have been looking for another. If anyone has any ideas or experience on how to combine something like that I'd be interested to hear your ideas. It wouldn't be a dedicated site like this, but maybe that is a good thing. Any revenue I made from the other ads could help keep this portion going. Thoughts? I think to be safe I will get out my black book and copy down everyone's information so I don't lose it if the site goes down. Also, let's plan on meeting at the top of the Empire State Building on New Year's Eve, this year, if we lose our info.
Now I can't even log in from another computer, If I was not already logged in on this one I would be screwed, go to the main page and it doesn't give you a login button.
My login option disappeared too. I Google searched 'swingular login' and that page works. I can't add a comment to a profile, messages disappear after delivery or aren't sent at all. I thought it was Mercury retrograde, but it's obviously been a problem much longer. Thank goodness for Bmshell's alt site!

You might consider using the mobile app instead... It continues to work... https://SwingRing.io/ in your browser on your PC, and/or your mobile device.
the button isnt showing.. but if you click where its supposed to be.. it will show the login box
Things have gone from bad to worse, for sure. Any idea who actually owns the site or would be in a position to make business decisions concerning the site?

We met the developers of a site that is user friendly....Kasidie . Fewer Utah users but the developer mentioned to us it is the most popular site world wide.

Kasidie is great... but yeah.. almost nobody from Utah on there... They are mostly Vegas and California. (Most east-coasters use SLS).

All of these sites have geographic pockets of popularity... Utah just happens to be Swingular.
If you don't see the login button on the home page simply go to http://Swingular.com/login.php to login.

As always, props to BMSHELL for their work. I agree this really comes down to a poor business model. I'd pay more/regularly to have a site that worked properly.
I think we all would pay a little to keep the site running, and that would be the easiest solution. Not sure how many members are on, but let's round it to 2000. If we all paid even $1.00 a month, that would increase cash flow by $2000 a month, which should be enough to run the site. As BMShell stated, $5 would be enough to run the site and pay yourself handsomely. I know my site can easily handle this much flow and my monthly expenses are well under $1000 a month. Increase the lifetime to something doable, like $125 for a lifetime, grandfather those of us in who are already members, and it would seem like a good start. I have programmers that work for $50 an hour and a few hours of maintenance a month is usually enough. Combine the SwingRing app into it and it would be a lovely site. Not sure if the PHP can incorporate the flow, but it should be able to handle it if designed, or redesigned properly. Hate to start over in something beefier like Python or Ruby as it might make users lose information, notes, etc, but something to think about. Doubt that would be necessary.
The owners (HHHEEEELLLOOOOO) need to get involved with this and it is really a shame we aren't seeing anything on this blog about what is happening or planned. I'm sure there are several users, including myself, who would be willing to cash the owners out and keep the site going and to make it much better. BMSHELL, thanks for the app and your hard work. Maybe this is all just a short-term thing and the owners are out of town or something and unaware the site is having serious issues. Where are the admins in all of this? Obviously they should have some knowledge and should be chiming in.
As far as other sites, Kasidie is nice but has hardly any Utahns in it ( I to have met the developers, and they are nice) , SLS sucks and AFF is gross, unless you want a glorified Craigslist. I guess if we all moved to the same site it would create another great place for us Utah peeps, but there goes all your emails, friends list, contacts, etc.
So yes, as it stands, go to http://Swingular.com/login.php or google search Swingular Login if you want access.
i've heard it's username: reconn that is running the site now. does anyone know if that true?

While Recon's been fantastically helpful I wouldn't hang this mess on their shoulders one iota; I've understood it to be the couple of women in the Admins photo that own Swingular. At least that's those are the Admins in the list of (still-unread) messages I've sent them when I see a user sign up to trade drugs for sex or some other TOS being violated.
We love the idea of other people taking over the site, and even charging a fee to current lifetime members. Lifetime memberships make no sense from a long term perspective on profit or consistent revenue stream. We would be more than willing to pay a monthly fee, but that would be predicated upon the Admins actually looking after the site, and starting to be responsive to their user base. It sounds like a lot of you have been trying to contact the Admins with nary a word? Maybe that, and the current state of the site, is an answer unto itself?

We like the idea of Swingular being more Utah centric, but at this point we would love another solution to access the community. We have been on Kasidie. While it is a good site and well run, most of the people were west coast or in Colorado. We agree on AFF, especially after the debacle of their last hack and how they handled it with their user base. The husband and I always say we would love to invest in a Swinger site and do it right, so if anyone wants a shared venture we would be interested in sitting down and discussing it. We also have an IT/Dev background and know what we would love to see in any swinger site.

If anyone finally gets a response from the Admins we would love to see the response posted here so we all get an idea about what exactly is going on with the site.

I think that ship has already sailed. If you look at the bottom of the page, the copyright notice has changed, it's no longer listed as "Special Blends" it's now "Avid Holdings" and when you lookup Avid Holdings in the New Mexico business entity database you will find that it is a new LLC that was incorporated on 9/23/2015.

Also, if you look at the Administrators profile, all the pictures and info are gone, it's now a generic profile telling you to call the phone number for support.

I think it's possible the site has been sold, we just have not been told about it yet.
Agree that it appears the site has changed hands.
After looking at the updates privacy policies, things get more interesting....

The address listed on the privacy policy and on the corporate filing for Avid Holdings is:

530-B HARKLE ROAD STE 100

This just happens to be the address of a company that does corporate filings for out of state entities in New Mexico: High Dessert Corporate Filings, LLC (Website: http://www.newmexicoregisteredagent.com )

Also, looking back at the filing for Avid Holding, the only person listed as a member of the LLC is: MELINDA PIERCE

I seem to recall that one of the owners was named Melinda, anyone care to second that?

So maybe it's just a corporate structure change, and we are still stuck with the same unresponsive owners.....

I also had tried to contact the owners about buying Swingular a few years back, no response.

I agree that the silent treatment is not the best way for the owner(s) to handle any of this....

I actually responded to their request for site admin support several months ago. I got an auto reply and nothing since. They obviously aren't even trying to get someone in to fix the site.
Last night, I tried to use some basic functions of the site & got an error message that the system was overloaded & therefore unavailable. Other web sites worked fine.

When I first signed up here, I figured that this day would come eventually. The business model, of users who pay one time & then use the site forever, relies on a constant influx of new members to finance opperations. Once you run out of new people joining, the whole thing beceomes unfunded & falls apart. I am going to guess that we no longer have enough new members to keep things suficently interesting for those who run the site.
