Swingular used to be the bee's knees. When we joined a few years ago people were friendly and replied to messages. It was easy to meet new people and have fun.
However, lately we have been noticing a major decline in activity on this site. People are only interested in going to events and putting on a show. There is no more down to earth friendly fun. Because of that we are exploring other websites and swinger communities.
So far we have looked into Adult Friend Finder, Kasidie, and a couple of others. Call us spoiled but we are skeptical of these new sites and aren't sure if it is worth paying money for any of them.
Does anyone have experience with these sites? Are there any others with an active and healthy local community?

We have tried many different sites and as far as living in Utah goes, swingular is the go to site by far!
Yup, for better or worse Swingular is the best you're going to find as far as a site geared towards Utah swinging. There are other sites that IMO are better but there are fewer people from Utah and they're considerably more expensive.
As to your observations about people "only interested in going to events and putting on a show" all I can tell you is that in swinging you can pretty much create your own experience. If you have a lot of rules, restrictions and filters as far as who you will or won't meet you may be passing by some really fun sexy peeps who at first glance might not SEEM like someone you'd be interested in but could certainly end up being great friends and fun fuck buddies. We've been doing this for a long time and it seems like a lot of people kind of shoot themselves in the foot. It's almost like they're looking for reasons NOT to play ("He's too fat...she's too old...they seem like...they don't like to...etc., etc..) rather than reasons TO play. We've been surprised on many occasions at how compatible we've been with people who a first glance didn't seem our type and how incompatible we've been with people who looked great on paper but in real life not so much. YMMV

Think you are absolutely right Mr Evil! Couldn't agree more. So many here DO have more reasons not to play, or even associate with others, than they do reasons to do it. Like your experience, we too have had some great times with people we never imagined we'd strike it off with or be attracted to.
Well hopefully everyone will have a great Saturday night. This is a good site, have met some good people and friends from here. Of course we are all different, but for us we enjoy the friendship thing... and it was that way on day 1 on this site. It was fun to look at some of the hot pics in the profiles and all, but relaxing and enjoying who the other couple actually is, and finding couples with good character creates a connection/attraction/comfort level.
We tried AFF (probably still have a profile on there) but found it to be a lot more shady. We've been on Swingular for many years and almost everyone we've met have been very pleasant. It has seemed to slow down a bit, but we are finding that as long as you reach out and make contacts, and FOLLOW THROUGH (i.e. meet up for drinks when you schedule it), that you can still meet a bunch of great, sexy people! They are out there, just takes a little more effort than it seems like it use to.

We tried SLS before Swingular. SLS was/is a graveyard. Honestly, if we hadn't found Swingular, we probably would have dropped trying to get in the LS altogether.
We've been very fortunate and met some great people, so, we have no complaints. Not sure how it happened, but this site seems to be the main site for UT. (I've always heard the same thing about AFF, no matter what state they live in, "It used to be good, now it's over run by fakes and flakes."

We're on AFF, standard members now because the cost is unreasonable. Although there's some things we like better with AFF, swingular is your best option!
If you sit back, watch and wait, your chance of finding "fun" will be very limited.

We have met some cool people here and we have met some Clique' people here. Sometimes it feels like High School all over. We have the motto you have to get through the BS to find the Cherry. Most couples here are nice and real. They have fears, likes, dislikes and hates. same as everyone. finding a compatible time is hard work. So we have taken a if it happens, it happens. If it don't, it Don't.
This is my third year on Swingular, and I have tried the 2 other sites mentioned. I find Swingular to out shine the others in positives to negatives. I think there is something on here for everyone. The friendships I have been so fortunate to have made on here are priceless. Even if I decided the lifestyle was not for me anymore I would still have the friends and that says a lot right there.
We too have tried AFF and found swingular to be more pleasant so far. We agree that it is important to: "LOOK FOR SIMULARITIES ~ RATHER THAN DIFFERENCES" ~ ~ ~
We love Swingular. My biggest complaint is that it is not iPhone friendly. But we have meet some great couples and singles.
We have slowed down a bit due to me on the road and the Queen V works crazy retail schedules. Oh yea. And Teenagers.

I think more and more people maintain their daily relationships and chats with couples they know and trust on Facebook or even Twitter, and mostly just use this site to meet new people. A broader connection on Facebook allows us to witness the "other side" of their lives and develop more lasting friendships beyond the sex connection. Of course, it is also a bit risky to connect there since we share friendships with people from work and family there too so discretion is critical. But it is the best place to chat and send each other messages while allowing them into one's life at a limited level. I rarely login here to leave people messages since most of them only check in once or twice a week, but are online hourly with Facebook. Amy and I are definitely more Polyamorous than a typical swinger couple, so this works better for us since we value knowing the "whole person". But if you are just looking for NSA stuff, singular isn't too bad. I love having the "lifetime membership" and wish they would offer that more often since we've connected with many people here that were gone the next month due to budget problems. Social networks work best when memberships are free. One theory on the decline in activity is here is that the site hardly ever offers lifetime memberships anymore, and it makes it a difficult place to stay connected month after month.
Being in Utah, Swingular has the largest participation. At home we stay connected to the scene through Swingular. For our travels we use Kasidie, which has a large national and international events/parties section.
ChristianMingle is what we use. That's where all the really kinky fuckers are. 
We have had a hard time finding people who will actually follow through. We are 100% serious and its tough finding others who are as well.

We have met some great friends off swingular and AFF. The Key word is "meet". Meeting DOESN'T mean sleeping with..We have those that we play with and those that we don't. The great thing about having swingers as friends..You don't have to be all hush hush about sex.
