People I know who lie a lot do it because they're sadistic, and enjoy the sense of control and superiority over the other person. I.E. "If I can deceive them, I must be smarter than them."
Sometimes not being absolutely honest is the only way to not hurt others. To lie just because you can is just dishonest and usually because people plan poorly or just can't think of anything else to say. Sometimes if you ask the right questions or give people choices you can see through their smoke screen.
We always ask if people want to meet at time A or B and then they have to commit or tell you their preference. You will find out real soon if they are serious or not. Most important don't take it personally.

Much of the above, I have found to be true. I have made many "appointments" to meet someone, or a couple, only to be stood up, directed to the wrong address, or called off at the last minute.

Mountainhighfun, they are called unicorns because most people don't believe they exist. Mythical as it were. Where as Single Men in the LS? Yah, those are like... a dog. Most are good, loyal, fun-loving and trustworthy. A few rabid ones give the rest as a whole a bad name.
