"The highs and lows: Religious people had as much sex as non-believers but they felt bad afterwards and often preyed for forgiveness"
People raised in very religious homes rated their guilt about sex over three times higher than folks raised in secular homes.
People who left organized religion reported significant improvement in their sex lives and rated their new experiences as a 7.81 on a scale of 10.

I wanted to take this to my facebook but you're right it was a bit dated and it didn't cite the source of the study, or I just couldn't find it. I still buy it though. It reflects my experience going from religious to atheist.
I'm still trying to figure out how/why they "preyed" for forgiveness. Interesting topic after watching swinging evolve here in Utah for the past 25 years and seeing those coming from strict Mormon backgrounds (ourselves included) either abandon the faith and/or faith in general or try to rationalize their adulterous activities. We've met quite a few people who while fucking suddenly decide it's getting too late since they have church in the morning. Gives new meaning to the term "Fast Sunday".

When you consider that the largest religious group in Utah is the LDS faith it is not surprising that the largest group of swingers is from that faith. I was told by mother that the fly boys of WWII used to say that Mormon girls don

I find that the exception to this is Italy. That is a country full of very religious people who are horny as heck & not at all embarrassed about it.
