My wife just finished the book "50 Shadeds Of Gray" trilogy and said I should read the book as well. She hints of the use of ropes/ties(I guess)in the book and it might be fun,but when pressed for answeres regarding the book she says I'll have to read them.Okay I'll play along......I think?...Now this is for the ladies: Have you read the books????,should us guys read the books; Have you tried some of the sexual fun from the books???and what fantasy would you like to fullfill from the book???
My wife has a fantasy from one of those books. She said something about having sex on a hood of a car.
She gets to fulfill it next weekend with her new friend. And I get to watch! Woo Hoo! lol.
Had a play partner suggest that I read it and I said "How about if I just beat YOU with the book instead?" She didn't seem to like that idea very much. Guess she's not really into S&M as much as she thought she is.
Those books are so far from the reality of the bdsm lifestyle. Also the premise of the main players in the book (I won't ruin the book for anyone) is preposterous. The book's were a good read but far from the reality of bdsm.
The book is just and introduction to the idea of Dominance and submission.

D/S is complex and has everything to do with the mind. It is a headset.

50 Shades of Grey was merely a piece if erotica.
It rekindled women's fantasies that are more of a "dark" nature.

We have found women who are turned on by the themes that have become "politically incorrect by feminists" and others that are just plain appalled .

We are not going to play with the appalled ones :)

The turned on ones might be seduced to the "Dark Side"

We have started a group "Power Exchange" to explore these themes. All are welcum :)

I think it's absolutely disgusting and nobody should read...er...oops. Sorry, I thought it said "Fifty Shades of Gay". My bad. By all means carry on spanking each other. ;-)
I the male am reading it... I am about half way through the first one... IT has had several boner chapters so far but not really much in the way of S & M yet.... But I will know at what pages to introduce ourselves when we see another woman engrossed in it in public....Wonder if they could make a movie??
I have a fantasy of getting three really poorly written novels published....

My wife said the same exact thing. She does love the "Masters of the Shadowlands" books by Cherise Sinclair however.
As others have mentioned, the books are [horribly written] fantasy erotica stories and it doesn't portray the BDSM lifestyle properly and really distorts the D/s mindset. As a founding member of a local BDSM social group, I can't recommend you take anything from these books to heart and please don't practice based on what you read. Simply read it for the erotica that you can get from them and as fodder for water cooler discussions.

However, if the BDSM or D/s idea you've read about really excites you and you want more info, look into your local community. You should be able to find a BDSM group in almost every city. You can find all levels of play and info; ranging from light bondage with furry cuffs and some spanking up to the extreme of being completely bound in rope, suspended from the ceiling by your pink bits, and your ass caned until it is black/blue and bleeding.

Most groups usually have public meet-ups called munches that are held at coffee shops, restaurants, etc. It is a great way to meet someone new and ask any questions you may have. They are very informal and friendly so you don't need to worry about showing up and someone tying you up and spanking you.

For those in Utah, the local groups I'm aware of are:
NLA:Utah - Salt Lake
LeatherQuest - Salt Lake
Rocky Mountain Olympus Leather (RMOL) - Salt Lake
FLOG - Ogden
Menagerie - Salt Lake
TNG (under 30) - Salt Lake
Provo/Orem has a few people that are working on start a local group

I do have to say that even though the books are not very good, it has sparked thoughts, discussions, and participation in the community. We've seen people join that would have never known what it is about or were too afraid to even discuss it.

Hope this helps
I will wait for the movie, LOL

I read the books in a matter of days. I couldn't put them down and they made me even hornier than usual I highly recommend men read them. I am trying desperately to get my man to read them.
Gee... are they on audio book?
I liked the pool table, the elevator, the boat, the shower.......I read the good parts to my husband while we are driving in the car! The kinky stuff is starting to sound better every day! I think most guys would like certain parts of them.
I (female half) did read the series. I did enjoy them. If you can get past the really great sex scenes about every 4 pages or so there really is a story with interesting characters. Happy Reading!
i find it sad that an appreciation of the english language and proper editing has died.

i work as an editor for audio books (aka books on tape) that book would have never lasted thru me. i also have a job as a book reviewer and review 5-6 books per month. this book would have gotten smeared on amazon as well as the other 3-4 other websites i review for. even the best material needs to have decent writing going on. i wanted to slap someone upside the head about 2 paragraphs into it.
