Have some free time during the day and have been hiking a lot. Anyone up for a decent hike sometime? Don't have to play along the way but having a hiking partner or two or three or more along the way would be fun.

Sure, up in the Logan canyon ;-)
i would have to say alpine loop that is high way SR-92 west bound from I-15
oops east
Highway 12 is one of the most spectacular scenic byways in the country. It begins at Hwy 24 near Torrey (Capitol Reef National Park) and runs south and west for 122 miles to Hwy. 89 south of Panguitch. The early section of the route climbs up the side of the heavily forested Boulder Mountains with some nice views east over Capitol Reef and the Henry Mountains. Past the town of Boulder, the route enters the Grand Staircase and passes through very rugged and often spectacular red rock scenery as it heads west towards Bryce Canyon National Park. Areas before Bryce Canyon are very scenic (as, of course, is the main scenic route through Bryce Canyon). Zion National Park is just a short drive southwest of Bryce off Highway 89.

We may be coming back to Utah to do some hiking, riding, jeeping and lots of picture taking. What are some of the best places for taking scenic photos? Thanks in advance.

Alpine loop is awesome. Don't forget about Saltaire on the Great Salt Lake. Lots of photo opportunities there. Hikes depend on your physical condition. South Willow Lake in Tooele is deserted on weekdays. You can take some amazing photos up there. Bells Canyon has a waterfall at the top and during the week, you can get some great shots. Not to mention Fifth Water Hot Springs which is the subject of another forum post here.
Have fun!

Also check out the Nebo Loop Scenic Byway. It has an amazing array of Utah features all in one drive. And lots of short hikes where "things can happen and photos can be taken."
