so whos on an effective diet and what is it... why your specific choice of diet, am real curious here given all the programs out there. hcg .. isagenix... cr500.. (this one im curious in) .. slimfast.. atkins... please share all your input would be very grateful
We do NOT follow any FAD diets/plans. WHATSOEVER. they're a fad. they don't typically work. and most the time people using them... are NOT using them properly.
personally we are currently following a paleolithic/caveman diet. We're eliminating (as much as possible) processed dairy and most whole wheat products. We're not perfect, but downsizing on processed foods in general has made us feel better.
We also go to the gym 4-6 days a week and combine weights and cardio. The balance depends on him vs her. He does more weights, she does more cardio. The weights being lifting (machines, amount of weight, repetitions, sets), all differ depending on if you're asking him or her.
I advise against all FADS. The HCG diet was horrendous as they started with something good and turned people into anorexics.
don't follow fads. do research. find what works for you.
(sorry for content and spelling. i wrote this 5 times and kept having the site backlog on me. my keylogger wasn't cooperating. i felt like smashing my keyboard into the screen)

I have lost a lot of my weight by eating fruit or oatmeal in the morning - and eat lots of fruit and veggies through out the day - have a light dinner and you are good to go - also going to the gym helps tone it all up
Still work in in progress, but I am down 35 from when I left my xwife this last nov.

I did really well on Weight Watchers a couple years ago and lost 90lbs and then hit a plateau. Of course in the mean time I tried all those over FAD diets. (Phen Phen, HCG etc) During all this FAD dieting I was going to the gym 6 days a week and would lose a bit here and there but, nothing to brag about. Finally gave in and 3 weeks ago had a Gasteric Sleeve done. All I can say is I LOVE IT!!!
kitty really look at yourself do you need to diet. intent of this is harmless and being nice
dont eat anything that has fructose in it
dont eat processed foods
dont eat anything with a hi glycemic index, for example dont eat a plain baked potatoe the glycemic index is way to hi, add butter and sour cream to lower glycemic index.
never eat untill your full.

I would like to hear from anyone who has advice on balancing your blood sugar throughout the day by eating 5 - 6 small meals. Please recommend the best books, materials, etc. I've heard a lot about how much healthier this is and how good the long term results could be and want to look into getting started. Thanks in advance!!
Read up on Body for Life.
We gave the 17 Day Diet a try and it worked very well. A doc wrote the book and critics agree it's a very sound and balanced eating guide. Lots of lean protein, veggies, fruits, greek yogurt, and green tea everyday. Our energy was through the roof and our skin looked amazing!
Diets have never worked for me, but eating sensibly and regular exercise works wonders! Depriving myself is a surefire way to make myself fail.
I make sure I make sure I get plenty of protein and a good variety of fruits and vegetables. Also, limiting unhealthy fats is important. I try not to eat processed foods or too much sugar. When I do splurge on an unhealthy food, I just make sure I do an extra hour of exercise that week.

there's a book called eat to live: http://www.amazon.com/Eat-Live-Amazing-Nutrient-Rich-Sustained/dp/031612091X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340504888&sr=8-1&keywords=eat+to+live
if you want the extreme diets. It's harder for some to follow than others, because pretty much there's no way for you to enjoy a quick meal, or to buy one from the store, unless it's just to get a bunch of fruit and chomp it down. Really not a fad.
Extremely strict, discusses glycemic index, and other things.
Essentially: eat only fruits and veggies. No sugar, no salt, no sugar substitutes.
So, no rice, potatoes, very very little corn and peas. It was harder for me to stick to when it got busy at work, because then I didn't want to take the time to cook. But if you already cook a lot, then this diet would be great for you.

I did it for 3-4 weeks, lost like twenty pounds on it. It's guaranteed that you will lose at least 20 pounds in 6 weeks. It's just REALLY hard to stick to, but you will start feeling really healthy from all the fruit and veggie intake.

Mrs. Imperfect and I started this about 6 months ago and the results have been fantastic. We will never go back to eating the way we did before. We feel better, we look better naked, we always have energy.
This is not a "diet" really... more of a lifestyle change.
Don't want to click the link? I can summarize for you:
Stop eating grains. All grains are bad. We are not meant to eat them.
Don't eat potatoes. There's really nothing there but carbs (aka sugar).
Avoid beans. (contrary to popular belief, they're really bad for you)
Stop consuming sugary stuff. Fruits and veggies are fine since the carbs come with added healthy nutrition, but anything with process sugars should either be avoided altogether or consumed only in moderation.
The best part about this:
I eat all the eggs and bacon I could ever want.
Meat is on the menu! Just make sure you don't go overboard on conventional stuff. We found a nice farmer's market where we get pasture raised beef, pork, lamb, chicken... It tastes better and it's waaay better for you.
Cheese and dairy is fine.
I drink coffee and beer in moderation.
Fat is good for you. In fact, you need to consume fat when you eat a low carb diet. Your body uses it to convert protein from meats into energy for you to use. Just make sure you get good fat. Omega 3's from fish or green veggies. Eating fat does not make you fat!
My average daily intake:
Eggs and bacon in the morning.
Big tasty healthy salad with tasty fatty dressing (usually including more bacon, real bacon, not processed bacon bits)
Evening meals are things like Buffalo chicken strips with carrots and celery with ranch dressing, taco salad, steak and veggies, fish and veggies, tuna salad, etc...
Twice a week I eat out and order a pop with my meal, I may eat potato or a piece or bread that gets brought to the table. You miss bread at first, but then you realize you just don't care about it anymore.
You stick to a diet like this at least 80% of the time and watch the fat just melt away and the energy levels just skyrocket.
A very light exercise regimen (pushups and squats and pullup twice a week, sprints one a week) and you'll see muscle tone start to show up.
I hope this helps!
