Just Curious, and before people start to flame and yell. This is just a question. on more and more Profile's we see the addition at the bottom

**WARNING: Any institutions or individuals using this site or any of its associated sites for studies or projects - You DO NOT have permission to use any of our profile or pictures in any form or forum both current and future. If you have or do, it will be considered a violation of our privacy and will be subject to legal ramifications. It is recommended that other members post a similar notice to this or you may copy and paste this one.

Does it really offer any legal, or any other type of guarantee?
Probably not in the long run, only because those that would most likely violate the warning will be low life slime and or out of the country, hard to find or even sue. I, figure it this way. When I loan someone money I only do it if I can live with never getting it back. So only put things into your profile that you, would be able to live with if anything happend.
Agreed. Chances of you ever knowing someone downloads or captures your picture or information would be very very difficult. Then finding or prosecuting would be a long shot. For this very reason we choose to be very conservative in ALL our pictures.
Copyrights and trade marks are run by different rules. Not everything can be trade marked or copyrighted. If I remember correctly, photographs are considered copyrights along with anything you might write in your profile. Checked boxes do not count. They belong to who ever takes the photo and not the person or subject.

Some of the rules have changed in the past 50 years and those items do not have to be registered with the government as they were at one time. Further more most of the rules have not kept up with the computer age.

How copyrights are enforced has not changed. Abuse of a copyright is considered a civil case and not a criminal one by the courts. The owner of the copyright and not the state is responsible for enforcement.

Federal law requires the owner of a copyright to be responsible for the defense of his or her copyright. Failure to do so voids the copyright and anyone can then use it. That is why you see the big corporations coming down hard on anyone that they believe is infringing on their copyright or trademark. Trademarks still have to be registered with the federal government.

The abuser must be notified of their infringement by a demanded that they stop and desist (I think that is the word) their use of the copyrighted material. If they do not it is your responsibility to sue in what ever court is required. Failure to do so will void your copyright
Short answer: worthless.
Someone I know had jury duty last week and she said her case was a civil suite from 2006. That's how far behind the Utah justice system is. So even if you bother to pursue it, it would take quite awhile. Better safe then sorry with the internet: don't post stuff you don't want passed around like candy.
