So when I was younger I developed arthritis in my legs and some of my joints. I was maybe about 6 when I first started getting what my mom called growing pains. When I got older they never went away but seemed to spreed to other joints as well.

So when I get massages instead of my joints relaxing they get stiffer then before.

Wondering if anyone could suggest of some possible therapy's that are good for fibro and arthritis related massages or acupuncture specialist or herbal therapy's let me know?

Sara,

There are a lot of us that would like to know the answer to this one.

It seems that every fibro patient is different but you have to keep trying to find what works for you. My daughter has been through all the meds listed by the AMA. Some work for awhile and then she gets adverse reactions to them.

She has a Chinese herbalist that gives her some help and relief. One of the few things that does help her is massage. She also finds that pool exercises help but not many facilities have the water warm enough. Diet seems to help some. Get away from sugar and junk foods.
One option:

Injected HCG, 150 to 200 units a day does wonders for R.A. and Fibro joint problems. It has to be real, high purity injected HCG, not the imitation drops and not the low quality really inexpensive HCG. The only issue is some peoples bodies tend to get used to the dose and have to stop for 3 to 6 weeks every 3 to 4 months to "reboot" the effects, but your mileage may very, some have been on it for years with no drop in effectiveness. Myself I tend to go about 5 months on and 3 weeks off to maintain maximum effect.
My chiropractor does adjustments, uses ultrasound, and acupuncture to help loosen muscles. I've been going to him for about 15 years. Pretty affordable too, if you're interested, send us a message and I'll give you the info. Good luck!

I have a friend who could not button a shirt. One finger was so bad it bent nearly in the opposite direction. He had problems getting around. He now appears as normal as anyone. He cured himself and claims it was diet. If I remember correctly, he told me gains cause a whole lot of the problem (wheat etc.) and if I remember corn was a big problem. Corn is in most everything we eat. When you have flair up, try to remember what you have eaten in the last day or so and keep a log. (You may find a connection to a food.) He said some foods he would notice a difference almost immediately. I will try to find out more and get back to you.
I don't eat fast food or lots of processed sugars only natural sugar for me. I know a lot about nutrution due to my love of Biology hehehe.

Thanks for the advice that is how its been for me the same as your daughter. Shoot and miss!!!

I too have problems with to much wheat too. So I do see that what you eat matters. I do know about how the cells process in the body due to my studies in Biology and micro biology. I know that proteins also play a role in many auto immune diseases along with the wrong sugars and put a body into extreme problems with toxins. Its getting rid of the toxins that makes pain in the joints hard. So you all have helped a lot even though I figured it would have to be extreme in relieving the pressure. Thanks everyone for your input helps a lot.

Have you tried chia seeds? They are supposed to help a lot with this kind of problem. Sometimes as quickly as a few days. Be careful though, there are some brands that are better than others. Mila seems to be the best on the market because the seeds are cracked opened with a patented process that keeps the omega 3s in tact. Seeds that are crushed have the fatty acids stick together and then it is sifted out of the product that is sold so much of the omega3s is sifted out. I don't sell Mila, but I think it's pretty easy to find.
To Everyone out there,

Hello, my name is Candy and I have been fighting Fibromyalgia and Arthritis for 9 years. I didn't start to see any "flare ups" until I moved from Virginia to Pennsylvania. Being in a colder climate my body is in pain everyday. I have found that using a heating pad throughout the day, massages every month, and sex have helped a great deal. The heating pad and massages have allowed me to move with more ease than when without, and having sex, is about the only time I do not feel any pain. I use my heating pad everyday, rotating it from different parts of my body, starting at my neck and back and working its way down to my feet. My husband and I are members at a local gym and that is where I have my massages done every month. The massage is normally for about one hour. When we are done with our workouts, he goes for the pool while I sit in the hot tub for about twenty minutes. I don't get into the pool too often, because I feel the water isn't warm enough. But when I do get in with our kids, my body feels as if needles are pricking every sore spot on my body. When having sex, I normally do not feel any pain which has allowed me to bend and flex in all directions.
One of the side effects of having Fibro that I struggle with the most; is the short term memory loss. Wait, what was I just talking about...LOL!! I very seldom drive by myself, because I forget where I'm going. A story that my husband tells everyone is; when we go to Walmart.. by the time we walk up to the doors I have already forgotten what John has said to me as to why we are there. YES, I know it is a side effect and nothing more serious. I have had more brain scans done to know it is only a side effect.
I see three different specialist for my Fibro and Arthritis and the side effects they cause. Namely; depression, anxiety, loss of sleep and migraines. I take medicine for the side effects and starting in the spring I will be having cortizone shots to my hips.
My husband and I appreciate any and all suggestions anyone has to offer. We have learned more from this forum than from some medical websites. Thank you, Swingular for bringing us together!
You need loads and loads of Cum! LOL check you messages...
Yoga, essential oils, and muscle building exercises.
I actually have modern dance classes I'm taking towards an art degree. So I have leaned and toned up to a healthy size. I have some huge cannons on my arms from dancing hip hop the last year or so. It has helped with some pain. Thank you I will look into some weigh training to see if it helps sometimes if I push my joints to much it has the same result as not doing the workouts. Thank you so much!!!

Essential oils .. And as weird as it sounds if you lift weights it will strengthen those joints and help alleviate the pain.
I use to use a heat pad all the time. I should go buy one for sure. Thank you and yes cold fronts trigger my flare ups. So I understand have had cortizone shots myself and it helps but you can only have so much before it stops helping and hurting you instead. I feel your pain indeed my friend do know others feel the same and its not fun and can cause many side effects. Thank you for your suggestions!!!

I agree; there is a fine balance between pushing just enough and too much. It's not always easy to figure out. Good luck.
I have an auto-immune disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis. It's treated like RA but causes fusion of the spine. It also causes a host of other problems, iritis (pupil freezes in place and won't dilate or contract), kidney disease, liver problems and many others. I give myself an injection called Enbrel every week and take methotrexate (cancer drug) every week as well.

Because of AS, I also have degenerative arthritis. My jaw has no disks. I had a prodecture a couple of years ago where a doctor scraped out the diseased jaw and inserted steroids. That was just a bandaid to hold off having more serious jaw surgery. It's been getting worse again and I have a hard time opening my mouth wide and for long periods of time, if you get my drift! But I do my best.

I find that reducing carbs (sugar, wheat, grains) makes me feel better. Because of the meds and a great doctor, I live a fairly active and healthy life.

I've had some massage where it really helps, but can't take deep tissue. Mostly the reduction of carbs helps control the pain and flexibility.
Eat black cherries daily. It helps with all sorts of pains. I found this article on a page talking about gout. My Grandfather of 92 years used to suffer arthritis, then learned about eating cherries. He swears by it.

"The general principle is that the darker the color of the cherry the more of the inflammation reducing fruit pigment, anthocyanins, it contains. So dark is good although having said that, ANY cherry has some of those inflammation reducing fruit pigments in them. If you can't get the really dark ones, buy what you can and eat more of them.
Very dark blackish-red cherries will contain around 80 to 300 mg of anthocyanins per 3.5 ounces of cherries (100 grams.)
Lighter colored cherries will contain 2 to 40 mg of anthocyanins per 3.5 ounces (100 grams.)
And processing does lower the amount with perhaps 50% of anthocyanins being lost from cherries after 6 months of freezing.
About 20 tart cherries will give around 12 to 25 mg of anthocyanins."

Researching Anthocyanins may be helpful.
Sara,
I twisted my ankle four times back to back and it not healing correctly caused me to have joint pain in my ankle, hip knee and lower back as well as a slight limp; I could not even wear flip flops or other non supportive shoes.
I started taking Knox Nutra Joint plus Glucosemine every day; it comes in a powder form and you mix it with a liquid (I used water) and drink it. One day I just noticed 'hey my ankle, knee, and hip don't hurt'. I tried to pinpoint how long it was before it stopped hurting and the best I could figure is a few months of using it regularly. This was a few years ago, and I have no problems at this point, I can and have been able to even wear fun shoes, no pain, nothing. I stopped taking it everyday and now I just take it once in a while when I think about it (prob once every few months).
The only other thing that I changed is that I use to be a pretty hardcore veterinarian and I started eating red meat around the same time.
Not sure if this will help your problem, but it worked for me. It is available w/o a prescription and inexpensive.
Best of luck, Brandy

Have you tried Glucosamine and Chondroitan? It helps me and my dog
Haven't read all the responses in this thread (sue me) so please forgive if this has already been mentioned. LLLT. Low level laser therapy. I've seen some impressive results with this easy, non-invasive technology.
Austrailian Dream Cream is a good, non-smelling topical cream that seems to help alot of joint/arthritis types of pain, heard of several folks that use it with positive results. It also comes with a full money back guarantee. You usually can pick it up at Smith's and some Walgreens as well as Amazon.
In my College Algebra class....The first day of lecture....Was about PROTEINS. The thing the teacher first said was this....Our bodies need protein as we are made of protein. He goes on and says and also show in his had a bloody juicy steak. He then tells us that when this steak is cooked it has 1/3 the value to give us pure protein. So he compared the steak to our body he says that we have to keep the protein in our body healthy and by doing so we have to eat good sources of protein. For our who DNA is made of Protein.

Now, in RNA there is not Protein but, a ribosomes with a small port of protein like product. The RNA is where genetics in the T cell change. Then, a mutation occurs in this area with Protein Deficiency. This is linked to many problems as all cells in the body have protein.

The only way to really fix the deficiency is hard to do. Science has not figured out why this cell cause things such as Cancer, Diabetes, Arthritis, MS, LUPUS and, so many other problems are linked to protein deficiencies from the mutated Cell being compromised.

Let me give you an example, The sun send rays of Protein through Blu UV lighting. This is why some light skinned people suffer in the sun....due to an overactive amount of protein interactions. Now when this occurs you start to feel tired or seem to just relax...almost like a cold blooded animal....That is because so much stimulation is happening between the Cells.

Now, inside our body we have lots of protein cells that make us up into the DNA we are. When one overacts on the other you can see the same result as that which is from sitting in the sun.

Now as far a Nutrition, Some foods are not for everyone and they can cause hard. All foods also have protein in their cells. So some foods mix one way with one person but do another thing for some one else. It is best to eat what makes your body feel good. If its not a food that does that for you....Then you may need to find food that will help you maintain a happy body.

You are all amazing and have helped in so many ways. Let's keep this post going in case anyone suffers from Arthritis. Hugs to you all!!!
Correction on first sentence.....It was not my Algebra Class....It was BIOLOGY. Oh my that would have been confusing lol (=
All of you have awesome comments....You are all very helpful to many people.....thanks for all the good ideas and great information.
