I know folks talk about testing and some do it but I bet the number of folks who have ever been tested is lower than anyone could imagine. I would bet that less than 20% of swingular members have ever been tested and less than 10% using tests for HSV 1 & 2. Yet I bet 90% of the profiles say DD free.
Folks you can play Russian roulette or you can play safe??
Folks you can play Russian roulette or you can play safe??
I'm curious where you are going with this?
Scare tactic to get people out and tested?
Scare tactic to get people not to be in the lifestyle?
I agree with testing completely, but you play Russian Roulette every time you get in your car and drive, let alone every time you play with a new partner.
Caution and intelligence, yes, paranoia, no.

Careful... people come out with the torches and pitchforks if you accuse people of trying to scare everyone away from playing.

Also get ripped a new one if you call certain people paranoid. Just warning you before the hate mail begins.

Hate mail is still better than no mail LOL
Honestly I hope it's that they just think everyone should get tested. But it comes across to me like a veiled scare tactic saying "don't have sex outside a safe, monogamous relationship sponsored by the Church". Since after morality the #1 attack point for anti-lifestyle crowd is disease, even though the percentage of people with diseases in the lifestyle is relatively low, and most lifestylers are more honest than vanillas who cheat.

Gee kitty, are you sure there are 7,000 and not 7,021? I would not like to see something in print that was not accurate. And you did count swinging as a sexually transmitted disease didn

Play away! please play away. It is only 5 or so total threads Kitty. No church rules for me I am wiser than that! As for sex education? There is no sex ed in Utah remember if you get educated you use it to play. This is the land of stick your head in the sand and listen to your elders.
I am just trying to help create an STI awareness and help educate folks for everyone's safety.
Its funny so far no one has said hey I was recently tested including HSV's????
I hope the newbies read this and decide to safely play with this wise old recently tested STD free HSV free couple.

i said i got tested for everything under the sun about 2-3 weeks ago (including the hsv strains AND come 100% clean the both of us) and you used that time to insinuate that i'd had unsafe sex with std ridden partners. so i don't see what the point of anyone letting you know they've been tested recently.

This shit is out of hand!
Ok... I'll brace my self for the haters!
I'll tell you all what I tell the kids "if you play your going to get hurt." "If you don't you going to have a boring life." "So what do you want to do here?" When the kids go play and come back hurt I always tell then this, they'd rather go back and play. They don't do what got them hurt again, they play safe as to what got them hurt in the first place. Were adults we know how were going to get hurt so we plan for it. i.e. Rubbers, commonsense and, testing!?! (oh my god what a concept) So lets not forget what we learned in the sand box! (Pre School?)
That might just be me getting old but thats my take. Now wheres my beer?

On one of the other threads about this same thing I mentioned that we get tested once a year each, 6 months apart. We are not about to get tested between every partner for a few hundred $$$. Although lately it has been between partners.... /sigh.
If you only want to play with people who have had their tests done in the last 7 days and haven't had any other partners in the last 6 months feel free. I think it might limit your already limited play partners, but it IS your set of dice to roll.
If you wish to ensure you do not contact any disease through sexual transmission don't have sex with anyone. Even your regular partner may cheat or get infected without sex.
Infected without sex? Gasp! Yes, it CAN happen. Some blood borne pathogens can live for several days or even weeks in dry blood on different surfaces. Hep A can be caught from plastic cups, Hep C can be picked up because someone with it scratches a scab and touches a handrail which you touch and then scratch yourself because of an itch. DRT* can be caught because you were walking in the parking lot texting and someone else was using their iPhone App for finding a parking spot instead of both of your looking around.

i dunno. it might spread some germs if we share cans. :S
No body that I know thinks STD is a game of funny. No I have not been tested in the past 30 days and if I had it would only indicate that 30 days ago I was safe. Therefore you would have to make a judgment about my sexual practices and honesty etc. As a total stranger would you trust that I had not just been with a street hooker or what ever? What about IV drugs and dirty needles? When it comes to this would you know where or how to look or even bother looking?
The best advice any of us can give one another is to get to know folks and make them your friends before you play. Take ample time and decide whether or not to trust their word. Because in the end that is what it really comes down too.
Sex with total strangers is the most dangerous and foolish thing you can do but it has happened to most of us at one time or another. So if you are in this lifestyle I would suggest the best way to be safe is for you to get to know the people you are fucking before you hop into the sack. Use common sense and evaluate their views on the subject and find out about their sexual conduct. Then if you still want to mess around you go for it.
I seem to have read at least a dozen posts on this subject including where to get tested and what to get tested for and how much it costs. Maybe it is only 5 and maybe you missed those and you need to go back and read some more. These include having Swingular verify the test results and post who is and who is not safe.
The legal and insurance ramifications of that are enormous and I don

Yes, sharing cans is wrong and evil. I only get my cans straight from the factory while wearing my hazmat suit. And then I dip the can in 91% rubbing alcohol and set it on fire to sterilize the outside. Then and only then is it safe to use to sterilize anything else.
HOLD IT!!! No glovin'...no lovin'
Is masturbating with antibacterial hand lotion OK or should you wear a glove, condom or both???????
Thanks all you posters for highlighting the prevalent attitude that newbies will find when trying to discuss the risks of STD's. Threads like this are not posted in support or denouncement of sexy adventures but just as an awareness tool. If you prefer to keep your head in the mud or the facts bother you then your free choice is to not read about it. Why would these folks even bother to post here?? Not many posters say they have been tested? Let this be a Warning to all the folks out there. As you can start to see a scary trend here? Do some of these posters have something to hide? And dont want folks to start asking them to be tested? or do they think threads like this will limit their quarry??
I just dont get it but this is the attitude we have found in this area. "Ignorance is bliss"

I've seen a few cans that could definitely spread germs.
I'm all for testing awareness, and I support the OP's stated intention to bring that information to the people who need it.
BUT
I am getting tired of the STD threads we keep getting, I got it the first time, we need to play it safe and there are a lot of people who don't or aren't honest about it so be careful. But when giant neon signs are constantly flashing in my face reminding me how horrible it is to die of AIDS, or how painful any of the sores, discharges, and assorted infections are I can't help but feel like the point is being missed. Or as DR ROCKZO so eloquently showed us, the horse has expired. No further lesson is needed at this time.
Also I'd warn against lighting your Lysol on fire to sanitize it. It typically produces sharp projectiles and blood splatter and we all know blood is seriously unsanitary. You just can't win, can you?

Perhaps the administrator could post a category for STD awareness. Leave it in the forums but not include that category in those that automatically pop up in the forums. Perhaps there has been a little over kill on this topic, but putting your head in the sand is just stupid. Sure someone can look it up on a google search, but why can't we police ourselves as well?
I'm almost feeling like there is something personal here and not just someone trying to warn the community. But I think Maybemore and a couple others here are creating the drama, where this subject should be drama free.
One last thing. It's called free speech. You don't want to read about a subject, then IGNORE IT, move on and quit making it a big deal. If you guys would stop making fun of maybemore then the thread would have disappeared long ago.

Good idea. If maybemore wants to start a thread aimed at admin for this idea I would support it. If admin would get a poll area going that would make it easy to count support for the addition it might be helpful. After all it has been on the list a long time.
Put the info along side the other information about this lifestyle where it can be easily found. I would not even mind if someone posted new info as it comes to light so admin could add it to the dialog. Admin could email everyone when the info is updated by them and suggest that we read it or every six months or so the admin could remind everyone to get tested.
But to treat us all like idiots is not the way to dispense information and a picture of a virus does not enlighten us or scare us. It may be news to some folks but most of us can read. Most of us know about STD and most are willing to be tested. Further more I do not think that most folks are as promiscuous as some might believe. Simply due to the cost of such testing most folks can not afford it as often as some may feel necessary.
I think the OPs are good people and have good intentions. We've talked before, and my impression of them is good.
Recently when I read one of their posts I thought: "We'll never end up playing with this couple" because their requirements are, in my opinion, not attainable. People have pointed out about what the tests say (such as: as of x weeks ago, you were not exposed). That's good, but there is no guarantee. People will lie. We can get an impression of one-another, but the only safe option would be not only testing, but quarantine.
Maybe swinging is not really for them. It could be that some kind of poly-marriage would be right; of course there is some risk in it too.
We all agree that awareness is good, but we've engaged in a risky pursuit.

We look at playing in the lifestyle like we do riding our motorcycles. We assume EVERYONE is out to get us. LOL No, really, we assume all motorists are NOT paying attention, are ON the phone and/or hate motorcycles and US in particular and want to run us over. Similarly we ASSUME everyone has cooties and/or is lying/ignorant about having them so we ask ourselves if playing with them (in whatever manner) is worth getting something. If the answer is yes we fuck 'em. If it's no we run away! Simple :-)

More concerned about throwing my back out than getting poked. Next time I gotta warm up with a little yoga (or find combat boots with 5 inch heels). :-)
I didn't read all of the pages on this thread so someone could have brought this up by now, but yes testing is a good thing, but I'm not sure how many people realize that you can go a year or more having HIV and testing negative for it so with that logic think about just 1 active couple having it that get tested regularly so some feel it makes them safe to go bare back or someone has a cut in their mouth and gives them a bj, how quickly do you think it will spred through the community and a year or even just 6 months later you find out you have unkmowningly infected couples ...how many people do you play with in six months? there are ways to prevent infection (which is why we play) this isn't a scare tactic I just don't want people getting the missconception that if you play with someone who gets tested all the time that they are safe riding bare back.
Why is it, when reading this thread, the '60s paranoia of "IF MOMMY IS A COMMIE THEN YA GOTTA TURN HER IN" keeps running through my head?
Sugarsandspice you are totally correct! Know one should take the STD game as being funny! As far as testing it for us is about every 60 to 90 days, life, work, family and so forth always seem to come into play.
While LS folks tend to be alot more open about sex than others, well LS folks that are really LS folks that is. Lets face it some just arent really into this or they have gotten their partner in it to play without regrets of being a cheater.
But we live in Las Vegas, I am always hearing guys brag about the hooker, escort, or just some stanger they took to their room and fucked. Most of these guys are married to and for them they are taking the bigger risk since whatever they just did is now going home with them. So getting to know the folks you play with in the LS is very important talking with them, most of all knowing who they have been playing with as well. There are a few couples we are attracted to, but would never play with. Why, simple they are what we call anybodys they fuck anyone! Just for the fuck! You have to always keep that in mind, the people you are about to fuck, if they are very active and fuck alot of others............well you are fucking them too! I know everyone says oh they are safe! But the truth be told they may not be!
