I am fairly new to the area , but am aware there is a lerge swingers community here. i understand there was a club here in the past. I am looking into opening a new club. I have run Club Collette in New orleans for a brief time in the past. I have been to clubs all over the country and have an idea for an upscale club. need feedback to see if there is an interest. I think an on premis club needs to be here in Salt Lake. There are so many of us. I went to the previous one 2-3 times a month until something happened that we don't need to go into here. Anyway friends request was sent.

We think there would be a big draw for a club like this. If it was ran right and people felt safe and privacy was still there.
A club here would be nice, definitely would need to be "discreet" as the morality police here would be out to shut it down before and after it got going.
I am sure that there are a lot of folks that would support your venture. However you would have your work cut out for you and I hope you have a good law firm working for you and are able to do it.

But what about West Wendover? (The Nevada side) Or maybe Mesquite?
I think there should be some houses there that the owners or banks are desperate to sell. Heck, the cops in either place might welcome some extra tax revenue.

Another idea, probably bad:
Park City has a free bus system. During the summer at least, there are lots of places that owners and agencies want to rent out. With this economy, some of these places may even be empty during the winter.
People could park in the parking structure near downtown or even out at Newpark and take the bus over to the condo for the party. No complaints from neighbors about parking; cops would have to take pictures of every single car in the parking garage or the Newpark parking lot.

We like the Idea, We lived in Vegas where there were several Swinger clubs. I think it it was a private residence large enough to hold at lest 70 -100 couples and had theme night it would work great. The only problem is picking an area. It seems the church runs most things in the state.

Would definitely have to agree. West Wendover would be better and more successful. Less population to "spy" on the club. Only 1.5 from SLC. The "Out of State, Out of Mind" philosophy would apply well there. That is probably why the Vegas clubs do so well.
Build it in SLC or anywhere near SLC and you will have problems from the "moral majority." Another possibility may be a ranch somewhere in a remote area close to SLC like Grantsville. But with the Wendover solution, at least there are hotels available.

Mavenx, if it were in Wendover; we could go mountain biking out there. I'm not much for casinos (except for the buffets) but Wendover has some good mountain biking.
yeah I think west wendover would be a good idea, as Utah laws I'm sure wouldnt allow it (if it was an official business).
What cracks me up about the "moral majority" here is that most of them secretly are into all kinds of stuff. This is now the number one state for paid porn subscriptions !!!!!! That tells me that all those horny old men that make the laws here are the ones living in secret. It is so sad

I believe the only way that one could truely avoid the heavy hand of the morality police is being organized as a church or truely a private club which whould require some form of selection process of club members. Even this would not keep you out of trouble, only grant you leverage in court.

One way we made this work was a once a year event where we rented out a hotel during the off-season. The innkeeper was very comfortable with us being there and we were the only people that could get a room that week-end every year. We had the full use of the convention center and the swimming pool.

Doing this as a church is a HUGE scam and those associated with such a "church" should be prosecuted. Be above aboard and do it right without relying on "religion."

COMMENTARY | Sometimes you just have to give people credit for creativity. Phoenix police have busted a church called the Phoenix Goddess Temple, alleging that it was actually a front for prostitution.
According to CNN, authorities claim churchgoers received sexual services in exchange for "donations." Twenty men and women have been arrested in regard to the church's practices of so-called "neo-tantric" healing; police are still seeking 17 more individuals.
What makes this case so interesting is, if the allegations are true, the great lengths of planning undertaken to skirt the laws against prostitution. People tend to believe the First Amendment serves as a blanket protection of religious groups, shielding them from the general laws of the state when laws and beliefs are in conflict. Unfortunately for this group, that interpretation of freedom of religion does not always hold true.
Glenn Hudson, a club owner in Dallas with the same perspective, also tried to get creative, calling his alleged nightclub/drug den a "spiritual organization," reports CBS News Dallas/Fort Worth. After his bust for running an unlicensed dance club, he claimed it was actually a youth outreach program, getting the young people of Dallas engaged with their spirituality through dance. Meanwhile, four undercover visits by police yielded 15 separate drug buys.
But the Fenix/Darkside wasn't Hudson's only supposed religious group. He also owned a spiritual organization/swinger's club called The Playground, where people could allegedly watch pornography and have sex. The Playground garnered the city's attention for being housed in a building with a "certificate of occupancy for a church, mosque or synagogue." Dallas ordered both clubs permanently closed.
Such creativity in using freedom of religion to shield a group from law enforcement can have tragic results. In a much darker example, polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs sought the protection of freedom of religion to avoid consequences for his abuses of children . His lawyers argued before his trial and he now claims in his motion for a new trial that his "marriages" to children as young as 12 were protected by the Constitution, according to Reuters. Jeffs was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
Religion is addressed in the first clause of the Bill of Rights for good reason. The framers of the Constitution knew what harm religious tyranny caused, and how the beliefs of the minority could easily be trampled by the majority.
But trying to hide unsavory acts under the mantle of freedom of religion is an affront to all Americans, the religious and the non-religious. The religion clause is meant to protect that which is most personal, most fundamental: the individuality of a belief system. While arguments like those of the Phoenix Goddess Temple; The Playground; and, particularly, Warren Jeffs, wave the banner of religious freedom, the claims are hollow.
Worst of all, manipulation of the spirit of the religion clause is an abuse of the gift of a freedom once unknown in the world.

I have attended lifestyle clubs in Vegas and Phoenix Arizona. Red Rooster once had trouble with the law over the building permits. The city made it tough on them but Mike and Chris got through the permit recertification. They also were able to prove that they accepted Donations at the door not a fee. And did offer food and had no serving Alcohol of their control. It was BYOA.
In Phoenix Guys and Dolls kept the police out of their hair by creating a compound for vehicles. When the cops were there the gates would close and search warrents were needed. Thus just cause was a requirement. Also asked for Donations, had food serving.
I recommend if you plan to start a club. Go to other cities and with contact to the establishment to talk to their attorney ask for help in educating how their system works. That would go a long way. Choose a good industrial area to organize and set up operations. Maybe a closed hotel could be the location, like Edgewater West in Oakland California.

Yeah well the Religious freaks would go after that too. In mesquite a number of years ago, someone opened an adult shop. The mormons actually announced in church times needed to fill protest and picketing lines in front of the place. They would take pictures of those entering the shop. yeah, it didn't last long. One in wendover might be able to fly....but who wants to drive all that way when house parties do just fine. No...I don't see an On Primise site anywhere near the future for SLC, despite the fact it has one of the largest swinger communities in the nation.
