Hi All,
We have been around for about 3 years now... Anyways, I wanted to share something really great and healthy. Yes, you can lose 10 lbs in 10 days without working out or drugs or much money. How? Juicing! We did a 10 day experiment as we saw a movie called Fat Sick and Almost Dead on Netflix. Check it out, if you got things that are ailing you.
We substituted our meals with juice made with a juicer such as the 'el cheapo one I got for the experiment called Juiceman Jr. Noisy as hell but worked. Now I will go step and get a nicey nice one.
I dropped 10 lbs in 10 days and dropped 2 index points of fat mass-- with nothing but drinking juice and we DID cheat with some steamed veggies in the evening. We needed something solid in the evening after work. My Favorite Recipe was Apple,Grapefruit, Kiwi, cantelope, carrots and beets. Make sure you peel the Beets otherwise they are bit strong in the drink.
Now I am hooked on it and take at least 3 days a month off of solids. You will be amazed at the end of 10 days. We are not that chunky in the first place so if you are; you may lose a bit more then we did.
The Third day is a little bit of a bitch with a slight headache as my body detoxed. Other then that it was worth sharing.

Most fad diets are simply about decreasing caloric intake in different ways.
Even the now famous "Twinkie Diet" (http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/11/08/twinkie.diet.professor/index.html) will let you loose weight by simply reducing calories.
Eat healthy, limit your caloric intake to less than your use and you will loose weight. Exercise to ensure limited muscle loss, but it doesn't have to be much.

We watched that same documentary! It looked like a good idea, but we both failed on day 3. I'm such a quiter! We are hoping to start again because both of us noticed an improvement from the few days we were on it. Good Job for making it a full 10 days

We had to cheat with steamed veggies... Cool video and impressive wasn't it? Plus we had just back from Pensacola and eating in places like Jackson's steak house, McGuire's and the Happy Pig along with the Donut hole for breakfast. So needless to say we were jonesing for some diggs. LOL!
Thanks on the atta-boy for 10 days, we are now trying to hit it once a month for 3 day runs; for maintenance.
Nasty4u2 yes unlimited water and unlimited Juice as well.... Check out the Netflix movie I mentioned it is something else. Plus I study Ayurveda, and am into natural healing and boosting strength an immunity. I really wanted to give my cells a vacation as my body likes one and so does the mind.
Sounds great, how does the downline work as far as pay out. For a small investment of $40 I have a great way for you work from home with an unlimited income possibility.
Just kidding, Utah is the number one state for multi level marketing scams so whenever I see any sort of pill/elixer/rub/magnet/whatever my scam alert goes off
Kevin Spacey said it best in American Beauty. "I wanna look good naked."
That's really what most of us are thinking when we go on a diet and/or exercise program. The thing is not to be ashamed or embarassed by it. It's one of the big reasons why we have become such gym rats.

To be honest I know nothing about a juice diet or many of these other diets that people go on, but I would like to share with you all the diet that I have been on with amazing results so far. It is called the Abs Diet. It was developed by one of the editors (maybe chief editor) from Men's Fitness Magazine. The diet is geared towards men but is easily adaptable for women as well. It is not about eating certain foods over another per say, it is a way of life. You can live off this diet for ever and remain healthy. To break it down a little. No High Fructose Corn Syrup, or Hydrogenated oils. Despite what the commercials say these are man altered chemicals and your body CANNOT digest them. Other than that eating whole grains, healthy proteins and fats. Its a great diet. In the last 13 weeks I have lost 52 lbs. And I have only started exercising for the last 4 of those 13. Anyway just thought I would share my success.

Well judging by the profile pic, great job!

If you really want to lose weight on a long-term basis, read, "Why we get fat, and what to do about it," by Gary Taubes, and watch "Fat Head." Basically you want to eat less than 20 g of carbs a day. That's the equivalent of 1/2 an apple. Become a carb counter & stop eating them. The only time the body stores fat is when eating carbs, it releases insulin, which tells it to store fat. You could eat 60000 calories of any other type of food, and the body will not store it. Eat as much saturated animal fat as possible. This type of fat will actually increase your good cholesterol & decrease your bad cholesterol, all to the healthiest levels. We women especially need a lot of cholesterol. Cholesterol stimulates our testosterone hormones & our brain needs it to think. Studies show that women with higher levels of cholesterol live longer. But what about vitamins, you say? There are as many vitamins of all types and amounts that you need in just one steak. We are being oversold on vitamins by vitamin corporations. The only type of vitamin that is limited in a steak is vitamins C, but there is still enough in there to fulfill our daily requirements, as long as you haven't been eating carbs. Carb consumption decreases the body's ability to absorb Vitamin C. People think that if they exercise a whole bunch, they will gain muscle mass & increase their metabolism, etc. If you replace 5 lb of fat with 5 lb. of muscle (not an easy task at all), you will only burn an additional 24 calories a day. That's 1/4 piece of bread. The health food/diet/gym industry is selling us all these fallacies to make money on our self-hatred. The truth is that skinny people's bodies release insulin at different levels than fat people. They naturally stay thin because of their hormones which cause them to metastasize carbs differently than fat people. Life it's not fair. Get over it. If you are overweight, it's because your body doesn't metabolize carbs the way a thin person's does. So stop eating them. PS Fruits & Veggies are also carbs.....check the charts.
One of the diets I read up on talked about insulin as well, but it was more about certain carbs causing insulin to increase in the blood stream. It's still a hard diet, but it allows you some carbs, etc. for energy. It's essentially a "low-glycemic diet" which will allow some carbs, and sweeteners, and you can do that like 6 days a week, then get a break day once a week sort of thing.

I think however we look at it eating well (right), exercising, drinking plenty of water is always a good thing.
Thanks to HandM for the post as it has inspired us to buy a juicer and see where it goes! After all we both like fruits and veggies.
Who knows one day we may be in the "fit" group and have an even more exciting social life!
Please let us know how it goes for you...The whole reason I put the post up was to see if anyone else is doing juicing. I wanted some recipes. The side effect from juicing was the weight loss, but the real deal was giving my cells a re charge from NEVER giving my cells a break in my life. I now juice almost everyday (along with solid foods) But I do notice when I have not had my shot of vitamins from the juice. The most I think I go now is like 3 days before I notice a lag in my gidde-up. As mentioned in the first post check out "Fat-Sick and almost dead on Netflix. It is about a guy who is on all kinds of pills you get the fast forward version of 60 days and how he is off all meds and looks great. The best of health to you all.
HandM
P.S Shred if you do Beets get the smaller ones and use a potato peeler (taste better). If you do not buy organic stuff make sure you peel your apples and pears. The skins sometimes has wax on them and harbors pesticides. A great way to wash is use a shot of vinegar and a drop of soap in the sink, FYI.

Ok. So you are right. Utah is the multi level capital of the World but, It seems strange to me that your "scam" alert goes off everytime you hear about something of this nature. I do agree that there are alot of crazy things out there that we as consumers don't need such as candles you burn with a light bulb, over priced vitamins, juice that cures athletes foot that derives from a berry that was found under some yak poop somewhere in the andes moutains.
Not too long ago, I had a friend Tell me that he had an opportunity to be interviewed by a company that does what I do. Ok. I love you bro but, nobody does what we do. He goes on to say that he investigated the company (GOOGLE). He finds the company to be a scam based his in depth investigation. So, I ask him, "What is the name of the company?" To which he replies,"I can't remember." Really?" His response tells me that the company he "investigated" is the one I proudly represent. I just let it roll of me. Maybe he just didn't want to hurt my feelings or he just didn't want to debate. He is a great guy and has been a great friend but, I found this to very offensive.
I can't really go into any detail about what I do or the company I represent due to compliance issues, however let's just say that we have been investigated by regulators in the industry since the 1970s. Not to mention companies that did their due dilligence spending millions of dollars to see if we were worth investing in only to make the desision to invest LOTs of money.
So, to make my point. I have talked to so many people that just assume because you offer them an opportunity that doesn't involve answering an ad or getting a college degree that it is a scam. The truth: we are scammed on a daily basis by living in the box that society deems acceptable. We hit a button on a box several times that is reminding us to wake up, we drive our box on wheels only to arive at another box where we spend 8+ hours a day, then we eat our lunch from a box or take money from a box so that we can eat out. The next day we slap a box, drive a box, stare at a box, eat from a box, come home to our box, watch a box or chat on a box. Then when the box we spend 8+ hours a day at is done with us, they pack our shit in a box. We look in the paper and start highlighting boxes to find another box to spend 8+ hours a day in so we can still live in a box, drive a box, watch a box or chat on a box. So you don't have to live in a cardboard box. Repeat this 4 or five times in your life. And guess what? You get to sleep forever in a box.
I would never judge someone for wanting to get out out of The rat race that most of us have deemed acceptable.
There was a time that everyone thought the world was flat. That the McDonald franchise idea would never work. I don't know what you do for work. If you enjoy it, great. But, you have to know that are tons of people who hate their jobs and would give everything to have an opportunity that is real. Most won't do it though because the fear of what people might think of them. So, they continue living a life of mediocraty. The last thing I want on my headstone is " Here lies Mike-potential intact."
I want the dash between the two dates to mean something.
Thanks for letting me post and thanks to those who took the time to read. I am sure I will catch some shit for it. It's ok, I will still love you all.

I've done the Atkins diet and lost 60 lbs, eating nothing but meat and almost no carbs. It's just not sustainable. You can eat all the freaking veggies and meat you want, but the body does need a balance of carbs, proteins, and fats. Some sugars are actually good for the body. The Juic diet, is not something you do forever. The guys in the movie only went 60 days (which is extreme), they lost 100 plus lbs in those 60 days with regular medical supervision in terms of their blood work and over all health. Both made remarkable recoveries from a autoimmune disease they both happened to share in common. You compare the blood work of someone on a all meat diet with someone on a fruits and vegetable diet and the comparison is not even close, the fruit guy wins every time.
The big question is it sustainable long term. Obviously not for both diets. A balanced diet after you drop the weight, with a hardy cardio and workout schedule is what is recommended for most people. I personally wouldn't recommend the Atkins diet long term. One, my breath was horrible the entire time, second, it was just plain gross. Finally, the desire to eat some type of carb grew and grew to the point after 6 months that the diet simply was unsustainable. Plus I know several friends who did this diet and ended up with medical issues. Friend of mind has type 2 diabetes, it didn't help it much at all. I just don't buy the "low-carb" crazies out there. Sure it works for a while, but you can just eat potatoes, or just fat, and lose weight.
@ Spexdex, Thanks I have been trying hard still have quite a ways to go but I am very pleased with the results so far. Want to be down another 25+ lbs before my cruise in October.
As for anyone else I would be more than willing to give info on the diet that I am doing. Like I said it is a lifestyle change not just a diet. I eat all types of meat, poultry, and fish, veggies, fruits, and grains. Very healthy eating and most of the recipes are really tasty as well. plus you can add your own recipes online and it will figure all the nutritional info for you. Its great.
