Swingers Forum - STD Testing When Meeting New Couples

Hello all -

Fairly new to the site, but been lurking around for a while. As we get ready to try some new and bigger things the wife and I have been discussing how we want to proceed as we start meeting new couple and getting deeper into swinging.

The big thing that has come up in our conversations concerns STD testing. Before we do anything we are going to both get full STD tests. It is our understanding that clinics can give people cards indicating what they were tested for, and when. We would really prefer to hook up with other couples who have done the same kind of testing and have proof.

Our question becomes is it normal when meeting new couples for a hook up to ask for these things. For example, we are thinking about heading to Jamaica soon and spending a couple of days at Hedonism. Can we expect if we meet a couple there they they will want to share this information with us, or is it not very common for couples to expect this? As a couple would you be offended by this if someone asked this from you?

Again, we really want to play but are very cautious and want to ensure, as much as you can, that we are safe about it. Since we don't have that much experience we just want to know if this is a very common thing for couples to expect from each other, and how we should go about verifying these things without offending people.
In my experience, most people do not ask.
This is a can of worms. Glad you are being thoughtful and careful. IT seems like testing is not very common. Especially in Utah! So much info to digest and really no perfect testing exists for the high level of play some folks seem to do! Folks dont want to talk about this subject and I even had a STD testing poll Removed from another upstart Utah based website of which we are no longer members of due to this censorship.
IF you go to Planned parenthood you get tested it is only for 3 things unless you have actual symptoms that indicate another test is needed.. HIV. Pin prick blood test. Not highly accurate but results in 20 mins. Chlamydia and gonorrhea urine tests of which results you can call and get after 7-10 biz days. You can go in and get a printout but not a card like you speak of. If you have had a new sexual partner within 3 weeks they ask you to come back after 3 weeks so the results will show. THe costs at PP are based on income so tell them you make 30k. It is this time lag of the test results and body reacting to exposure that makes testing not a very fool proof indication of safety. The other sad thing is some of the soft side activities actually have more risk than actual sex using condoms.
What we need is for everyone to get tested at least twice a year and possible during the same week and that would make this game alot safer in UTah.
Utah Aids Foundation Test Site is on about 14th south and 11th East. If you pay $25 they test for everything and it takes 2 weeks for results. 801-487-2323 They meet 2 times a week from 5 to 8 pm. I cant remember which days. Anywho my advice is to choose your partners that you trust and who are your friends.
well we've been apart of this site since it begain and we get tested we make sure who we are hooking up with are clean as well not about to give something to eachother when we are off soloing and wouldn't want to catch something from a couple. Testing is a must so is Condums cant always trust BC.
would be ocward giving birth to someone kid other than my husband. Non-Condum is after long tearm relaship has been astablished and everyone in our groups is just for each other.

They test for free
HIV
Chlamydia
Gonorrhea

Hep C is 25$
Rectal gonorrhea is 25$
Syphilis is 5$
No testing for HPV and herpes :(

While no STI would be a good thing, Incurable HIV and Herpes would be major life changing events!

Hey DELICIOUSLYWET,
You insinuate that big brother or big insurance companies are taking notice if folks are getting STI testing? Do you know this for sure? ARe you saying they would use this testing to charge you a higher life insurance premium or health care plan premium?
I get tested every 3 months when I'm getting my nutritional levels tested (side affect from weight loss surgery) and I make sure while they are drawing blood, all applicable STD tests are done at the same time. I'm not paranoid, I'm just proactive.

And in any case, there is no good excuse for not using protection when you meet someone for the first time. I keep condoms on me at all times. Yes, I'm a girl, but protection is all players responsibility.

my 2 cents.

Hello all -

Thanks so much for all of your input. It has helped a lot. From what we are hearing, it sounds like most of the people who have responded to our questions at least get tested on a regular basis? Maybe the better question is whether this is normal for most in the lifestyle?

There are never any guarantees, which we get. And we certainly understand the ricks associated with playing with other people. We decided that we are good with that risk when we first started talking about exploring sexual opportunities with others. We just want to mitigate the risk as much as possible.

Having said that, we are truly excited to start playing a little more regularly. We have had a couple of encounters over the years which were a lot of fun. Honestly, we find that the we get off on just the planning and lead up to everything. Just planning different adventures that have not really gone anywhere have lead to some of the hottest sex we have ever had. Anyway, thanks for all the feedback. It is greatly appreciated. We are going to Hedonism II for Halloween this year, so we want to ensure success and safety wherever possible. Any advice for us there? :)

Ok I called the Utah aids foundation today and they are open Mon and Thur 5-7pm.
Stopped by planned Parenthood and they are open 10-6 Mon weekdays I think they are closed on Sat.
They have started offering the HSV (herpes test)blood draw test for 160$ They were not sure which test it is?
The note here is supposedly 60-80% of folks might test positive even if they have the cold sore virus or dont have breakouts. Not many folks ever take this test they said.
Thee other tests they do for about 56$ is HIV rapid test ready in 15 mins and Chlamydia and Gonorrhea whose results take 7-10 biz days to get.
