Swingers Forum - Speaking of beds...

The wife and I have a question to post - wherein we ask this: What bed is the best possible match for a pair of swingers that love to play?

This question comes about due to the recent demise of our bed. It appears that 2 years of AMAZING sex WILL destroy a low-quality mattress.

The most frustrating part of the low-end mattress is the fact that even when it's just the Mrs. and I, there is entirely too much noise from the box spring set and mattress together to enjoy a hard ride without fear of the kids hearing and being mortified.

Recommendations for soft, silent, and amazingly comfortable mattress sets will be greatly appreciated.

I think the kind of mattress would depend on how you like your sex play. Every type of mattress gives you different play experience. The bed height can be a factor if used for erotic moments and people never talk about that part of their choice. I have used springier mattress and box spring sets that give you a good bounce for fun but are lousy to sleep on. Anniversary Inn had one that was quite wild. I spent most of my married life in a water bed and loved it but they don
We've got a Select Comfort 5000 dual chamber california king bed. It's a fantastic bed for couples that have a hard time agreeing on a bed. You can make each side as hard or soft as you like, and the air chambers have a low thermal mass, so it retains far less body heat than memory foam.

The biggest downside is that it discourages any kind overnight spooning, especially when there's a good weight difference between the couple.

See now y'all are making it tough since we're getting a new mattress when I get home. Seakingher, does costco have all the typical name brand mattresses as well???

Costco carries the Novaform and Sleep Science mattresses in foam. They also carry Sealy in standard fare. You can look at them on their website (costco.com) and current pricing. I live in Bountiful now and you could come over and lay around on mine for a while after work if that would help. As was stated by wefly, a mattress of this type gets softer as it gets warmer so you have a tendency to sink a little deeper into it as it warms under you. You really need to lay on one for say 30 min to really know if you will like the density. They come all squashed into a small container. Once they are opened and full size they really need two people to move them. The mattresses are heavy and you do not want to move them by yourself if you can help it. My girlfriend is always hot but loves the mattress and prefers it over her select comfort. I tried to send you an email with my phone number but you must have single males blocked. Send me a email if you wish with a phone number or what ever and I will try to remember to look this afternoon.
Just a thought come up and try our select comfort with us and see if you like it (LOL)
The Select Comfort is a great bed no box springs to make noise.
We say the floor is the best for hard sex play...more room for others, no give (good for those deep penetrations) and absolutly no noise...other than the wife and others screaming and moaning...lol...I know you are serious about a bed that is comfortable but the sleep number is the way to go...we love ours....
Yeah the tempur pedic one feels like playing raquetball in the curtains. No bounce back! But, we bought the tranquil sands sealy I think and we love it. We did however put a mattress cover on it since she has a habit of squirting. Have fun in your search.
You could come over and try ours out with us and tell us what you think.......
We love our Sultan Sandane from ikea. It's quiet, comfortable, an easy height, and most importantly it's round. You wouldn't believe the extra room a round bed gives you, plus it's the same no matter what angle you sleep at so you get full bed length no matter which direction you collapse into it. Only down side is they have quit selling it so you will have to find another manufacturer that makes round beds now, oh and sheets have to be custom.
What ever you do, buy a waterproof mattress cover!~ :) WE have a TempurPedic and we LOVE it!
We picked up a Simmons ComforPedic memory foam mattress from Ashley a year ago and it is amazing. It has a perforated latex foam core so it does not hold the heat as much as a TempurPedic or solid foam mattress. Not to mention, it is silent. :D Night and day difference from a spring mattress and after a year we have no sign of wear or depressed spots. Definately recommend the waterproof cover that they sell...well worth the money.
Hey hotties miss you guys lots. Hope you find a nice bed. Most bed with extra padding on top will help with the squeeking but also maybe a good bedframe too. Paying more for a quality mattress is worth the investment. I bought my pillowtop and just barely need to replace it after 8+ years of use.

Still does not creek but do need a new one too. Looking into memory foam for sure for our next one. We found so many nice ones and they are super soft and fit your body too!!

To qualify myself as an expert of sorts, I will let you know I have had 6 mattresses in the last 11 years...Here's my recommendations to you:

1.) Buy at a larger store that will be there for another 20 years. A lot of 'mom and pop' places come and go, however, the larger stores tend to change names, but they remain in business. The warranties do not get serviced by the manufacturer, they are serviced by the retailer. If the retailer is no longer in business, you will need the reciept, original tags (the ones that say you can't remove them, they need to be attached to the mattress still), and proof of delivery date for service. Mattresses never last to the warranty end, so you will end up having to get a new one, they just give you in store credit for your purchase amount and tell you to reselect because the names of the mattresses change every 6 months, thus you can't trade it on a new one. If you end up with the manufacturer, they'll send you to one of their 'preferred vendors' to reselect.

2.) Inner spring mattresses do not remain comfy for very long. Within a few months you'll have your body's indentation permanently in the mattress, as long as it doesn't cause discomfort, don't worry about it. If you are getting near the end of the warranty time, call the store and tell them you're having issues, they'll send someone out to see how deep the permanent indent is and make you reselect, beginning the warranty again. It'll cost a few bucks for the new mattress, but nowhere near what the original one costs. You'll only pay the difference between what the original costs and the new one. If you purchase a good mattress now, you'll never have to buy another one again due to the way the warranties work.

3.) ALWAYS purchase the mattress cover for $100 that's guaranteed to protect your mattress for 10-20 years. If there's ANY stain whatsoever in your mattress, the warranty is voided. If you have the protective cover on your reciept, even if your mattress isn't worn out, if it gets a stain, reselect.

4.) Spend as much as you possibly can afford. I know this seems odd, however, you'll find it much easier to find a good mattress close to the price you paid if you spend a little extra. Besides, if you're spending 1/4 (or more) of your day on the bed, like most people, being comfortable is imperative. Personally, I sleep from 3-5 hours per day, I need it to be the best 3-5 hours possible, so spending a ton of money on it pretty much insures it'll be that way.

5.) Do not get the adjustable beds. They will not lay flat after a little while. They're nice to have when you wanna watch TV in bed and such, if you're injured and need to stay in bed for a few weeks, etc. however, in an every day, practical usage situation, you'll be sadly disappointed when it doesn't lay flat when you want to sleep.

6.) Having had just about any type, brand, and style of bed on the market, the only one that I would recommend is the tempurpedic. Had an off branded tempurpedic, it was awesome, but wore out in less than 2 years. Have had a genuine tempurpedic for about a year now, I sleep like a log every night. Even when the PTSD nightmares kick in, I fall asleep pretty quickly after I wake up. The mattress itself doesn't hold the dead skin that innerspring mattresses hold (mattresses double in weight in like 5 years from dead skin, I believe its 5 years, to lazy to look it up), they're made of a form of latex that allows them to not get soaked and stinky from a woman who squirts, and they're just plain old comfy. I tried the air filled mattresses, couldn't find my 'sleep number,' and will probably keep the tempurpedic forever. There was mention of them being hot, this is true, however, they make an upgraded model that has air holes in it, making it cooler for the ones sleeping on it, we got it, it works well. I am a night sweat person, she's always cold, it works for us both.

7.) Spend the few extra bucks to get a good frame. The cheaper, less sturdy frames allow the bed to tilt, bend, twist, etc. causing the bed to wear out a lot faster. Keep an eye on the supports, if they loosen up, you'll end up with the box spring bending, breaking, and ruining the mattress. Check them often, tighten them up, and you'll be fine. If your box spring breaks, bends, begins to make a lot of noise, go buy a new one, they're usually only $100 or so. The mattress is what you're paying for when you buy a set.

8.) Stay as far away from the $300-800 specials as possible, if that's all you can truly afford, that's what you can afford, but if you can find a way to spend at least $1500-2000, you'll be much happier.

Hope this helps!
Just to note the date and that the original posting says they were going to purchase a new bed the same day. For those still looking put in your two cents.

Yes protect the mattress no mater what you buy and JUSTJIM72 I don't believe that any mattress cover will last 10-20 years. Waterproof is a must and the heaver the cover the more it interferes with the memory foam mattresses
Somewhat surprised that no one brought up the subject of waterbeds.
Oh how times do change.

If by chance you, or anyone else, is still in the market for a new bed, I'm trying to sell one. It is a Sterns and Foster Ultra-Plush California King mattress with a Euro pillowtop. Here is a page on sears.com about the mattress. I bought it about a year ago for about $1600 but asking only $1000 for it. It has had a protective cover around it so it is in perfect condition.

I have a lower box and metal frame that was part of a regular king waterbed that will be included if you want it. It mostly fits the Cali King mattress but is a couple of inches wider.

Send me a message if you are interested.
