Anytime I search for a forumites username within the forums I end up getting "The used table type doesn't support FULLTEXT indexes".
Anyone else getting this?

I hate it!! I know there's a forum I'm looking for but I can't find it, and I can't search it!! Annoying!!

What was it about?
Wish they would FIX THIS, makes the forums almost worthless, I don't read everything, I search for what I want. Over a year ?
actually not sure why I am posting, they will never find this post

There are posts that go back many years and contain opinions from people that are no longer here. I for one am not sure that really old posts are of any benefit to us.
Searching is a processor intensive action. They can be done quicker if they are indexed. This takes up space and is more complex to program etc. Have a thousand people searching through the complete database of posts without full indexes would probably cause the servers to slow way down or even come to a halt.
As such I think admin really does not want that to be a feature that we can use. Many of us figure that they cut the ability to email all friends at the same time for similar reasons of their own.
At some point all forum posts are recycled anyway and we talk about the same things over and over. Among other things this helps people that are new to the lifestyle or Swingular understand what the general lines of conduct are and gives them the opportunity to participate and discuss. I think that this is a healthy thing to do.
After a year has passed by I think that all posts need to be erased automatically.

I could not disagree more. Search is a pretty basic feature. While not used much, it can prevent alot of excess duplicate posting, and a waste of bandwidth and peoples time.
For example, I just saw a post this morning about a Nudist city in France. Now that is useful information, if a person was planning a trip, they could do a simple search and come up with all kinds of fun tidbits. There were also some old posts out there about games / bets etc, fun things to look at occasionally. Indexed searches are pretty cheap, and basic on most any site.
Just my opinion. Guess I can open up a new Half Dozen or more duplicate threads to try and find what the old threads talked about, seems stupid to me.

Admin has said that he does most of the coding for the site and they rent or lease space on someone

This is still an issue... does anyone actually work on the bugs? Or is it a "we got here doesn't matter what actually works" kinda thing??? I have had several problems and have only been here a short time and it doesn't seem anyone answers anything :-( kinda sucks....
