PEORIA -- City leaders in Peoria will soon consider an ordinance aimed at outlawing private swingers clubs where couples meet and swap partners.

The ordinance is aimed at a local business called Club 307. The club sits a couple of blocks from the Police Department and is reportedly a swingers club.

Mayor Jim Ardis told the (Peoria) Journal Star that the city doesn't have an ordinance preventing couples from paying to enter a club and swap partners. But he believes the city needs one.

City Councilman Eric Turner thinks many people are disgusted that Peoria has such a club.

Nobody answered a call to the phone number listed for the club on Friday, and there was no way to leave a message.

The council plans to consider the ordinance Tuesday.

this was in the state journal regeistor (sj-r.com)
Obviously, the Peoria city fathers have never heard of the Constitution.

#1. - It's a PRIVATE club, which means it's not open to the general public.
#2. - Nothing that happens inside is within view of the general public.
#3. - The club's proximity to the police station has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING.
#4. - Swinging and/or swapping partners is NOT illegal.

It will be really interesting to see what the exact wording of the ordinance is.
It will also be laughable.

Sounds like the Morality Crusade is on the march again! Liberty is only good as long as you do the things they tell you you can, despite whatever the despots themselves are doing. Or is Mr. Turner just jealous that he hasn't been able to play there?
It's quite simple, hire a constitutional law lawyer and file a suit against the city if they do enact such ordinance. Cities tend to back down when they get word a lawsuit has been filed. Especially one that is a violation of Constitutional rights.
Oh. We have a constitution still? totally forgot about that ole thing. :P
Conservatives only like the constitution when it serves their selfish, ignorant, closed-minded,pea brains.
Slimguy: Hmmm, I know at least as many conservative swingers as liberal swingers... maybe more. This may surprise you.
There are conservative versions all of the categories of people that you imply. Conservative "prudes" may be who you are referring to but I'll wager that there are as many liberal "prudes" voting against this club in Peoria as conservative "prudes".
Ignorant (to the world of conservative swingers), closed minded and pea brained is frankly how I'd describe your comment.
I will slap them all in the prudehole. :P
What about people that are conservative as of the dictionary definition rather than the political party? that works. i say we simply get rid of labeling people where politics are concerned. then people would have to listen to what they claim to stand for rather than grouping different parties up under one broad definition. i better become president someday so i can do that.
Kitty
A) Slap them twice!
B) Perfect... exactly, well said.
We totally agree with DCLFUN and Hello_Kitty.
