It appears that when a post is made to a thread, that thread appears on the home page, forum area, at the top of the list. This is great! Keeps things fresh.
However, it appears that this system is being manipulated. For example, I've noticed that the creator of one thread has posted several times in the last couple of days, the thread moves to the top of the list, then they delete their post. So there's actually no new entries there at all! You can see this by looking at that thread -- later posts are out of order, and no new entries are currently there, yet that thread has continued to appear on the home page as if there is current interest in that topic.
Is there a way to prevent this, such as checking the date/time of the last posting (for use on the home page links) occassionally rather than only when a new post is made?

pretty common on forums across the web, the "ghost bump" lots of forums out there will not let you delete your post, just edit it, usually only an admin can delete a post. this one however seems to be open to the ghosts
RandMR: I didn't know about a "ghost bump". This is actually the only board I belong to. OK, I do have a facebook page but people tease me 'cause I get on there like once a month or something!
Wershi: Actually editing something on a post doesn't change its position in the list. Only adding a new post. But yeah, maybe they made multiple errors in ALL of their recent posts that caused them to want to delete ALL of those new posts IMMEDIATELY (within moments) after they'd just posted. Could be. Other options just seem more likely!

Just seems odd to be a repeated occurence within a very short time. As I said though, no huge deal, it's just nice to see the "Hot Topics" that are actually current. I don't actually visit the "Forum" page itself very often.

OK, now I did a no-no and edited the first post that started this thread! I removed the name of the thread where I first noticed this occuring. Pointing out a specific thread made this thread too much like a personal attack.
I do think that it's a valid (although minor!) issue though. Do you notice, Wershi, how our posts now seem out of order? Kinda "screws-up" the flow of things!
This is exactly what happened when I first noticed a particular poster was frequently adding posts, than IMMEDIATELY deleting them. Multiple times, not just once.

But that is exactly what happened to me ... I was actually reading the thread I mention at the top, left it, came back, it'd changed, I refreshed the screen, it changed again & no longer made any sense given the posts that were left...etc etc! Took me a bit to realize what the thread owner was trying to do 'till I realized he was just being sure his thread always showed up on top!
