Just a few suggestions from our perspective (they are applicable to women too, but probably more so to guys); take 'em or leave 'em:
-- We don't usually contact someone if they don't have at least one picture posted. You may look fine after all, but it's usually not fruitful to go through the extra rounds to get a picture.
-- Hygiene is really important, especially to ladies. I know that's a gross generalization, but being really clean and smelling good (not cologne good, just clean good) is really really important. Here's another obscenely-generalized statement, and there are many exceptions, but if you've been living alone for years, living with other guys, or living in your parents' basement, you should take another look at hygiene. Don't ride a horse or a motorcycle to your first meeting; no matter how hot you are, you're going to be sweaty and dusty. If there's any hint of body odor in a regular setting, well things won't progress. If your living quarters are a mess, then you may be challenged on the personal hygiene level.
-- Smoking. This is a difficult one. Generally smokers are a No for us. People sometimes list themselves as "social smokers". I don't even know what the threshold is. Some people you can't even tell that they are smokers, but others are very obvious. Either way, please list it honestly.
-- Don't post pics of you lovingly holding weapons. We're fine with firearms, but they're not a turn on, and they may tinge peoples' impressions of you toward the mass murderer type.
-- Horniness is a powerful thing, and it pretty much draws us all here. But don't let it get the best of you. Impatience is a real turn-off. Remember that for most women, letting you into their bodies is a real personal thing. They really need to warm up to it. The "let's fuck now" needs to be tempered a bit.
