Air Force Sergeant, Wife Accused Of Spreading HIV In Kansas
Prime example of why the wife and I made the decision when we decided to get into the lifestyle that we will have to know any partners real well before any sexual relations. We also decided that we will bring and require proof of been disease free. If people can't understand and respect that then it's no skin off our back, since our health is more important than any sexual fantasy or lifestyle.
The real trouble arises from the long lead time (3 mo) between being a transmitter and for the body to produce enough antibodies to trigger the traditional saliva HIV tests to become positive.
There is a new test that shows promise but how many partners does a typical swinger have in 3 months and how many partners did those partners have in the 3 months and those partners. This is where the math just goes ballistic and is to mind boggling for us.. It really means bad news unless both couples have been monogamous for 3-6 months and then get tested and then play.

This scares the shit out of us. Wow, what an irresponsible motherfucker. I am so glad we get tested.
bump...
I was stationed in down in Camp Pendelton, CA like 15 years ago (93 or so). A couple of buddies and I went down to San Diego Naval Base on 12 street to enjoy the base club down there. My buddy picked up on this cougar that was all over him out on the dance floor, in our booth. She was rubbing on him and almost licked the guys face off. Hell she was even running her hand on the outside of my pants from time to time while she was sucking face with my buddy. Which at the time she freaked me out, and that was a no go for me thankfully. All night she was running back and forth between other guys and my buddy. After a couple hours go by the bouncer and the Navy SP's (Police) come in and rip her right over the table and put her in cuffs. The guy grabs my buddy and starts to tell him he has been exposed to HIV. Her husband was a commander and was on float (Out to Sea) out in Thailand and had contracted the disease. She found out she was infected after he was well into it and had died. She was so bitter that she wanted all men to die if she was going to do so as well. She had already been arrested before this for the same thing and they let her go. She turned right around the same day they let her out and was at it again. My buddy turned white and when I say nobody and I mean nobody wanted to shake his hand for months, I mean it. He never did get it but WOW!!! That is how I know its a four month lag time test ( you can be positive and have it not test positive for up to four months out) for accurate results with a blood sample, and that its next to impossible to get it from saliva. I learned the hard lesson that day and I remembered it and I share it every time it comes up in life. Sex should never be that easy and if it is its suspect to say the least. Thank my omnipotent being I had standards that day.
If your active at all then get it tested every thirty days and scan results regularly. That is the standard for the porn industry. No test older than thirty days should get you laid. I test between every monogamous relationship after four months, and every month while I am being promiscuous. Planned parenthood its 40 bucks and if your a Veteran and you don't care, ask for one every time you want and they will pull blood at will for you.

I am surprised that anyone would rely on "getting to know a person real well" or knowing their "partners history, health wise" as means of knowing if a person has any sort of STD's! DO YOU REALLY EVER KNOW?! Why rely on somebody telling you the truth about having an STD- especially when they are trying to get laid? Talk about a real fast way to squash getting laid... SCENARIO: "ummm, yeah baby- your soooo hot, I want to fuck you..... but, I hope you don't mind, I have HIV" and you fuck anyways?!!
You are the ONLY one who can control your sexual health, don't rely on somebody being forthcoming and telling you all the dirty details of their sexual past. WEAR CONDOMS, all the time every time. And truly, condoms aren't the fix all- we all need to be responsible about getting tested regularly.

Getting tested is great BUT.....The real deal is use a condom and it's not an issue.... As for the warts issue HPV... Touch it you get it.... So look before you leap... Getting tested can now be a quick as 12 days and I was told that it HIV can be detected via expensive DNA markers now in as little as 3 days... but that is not gospel. The big problem with testing alone is that lets say you get tested on the 1st/ You pay for the 3 day DNA thing and on the 2nd you have unprotected sex with couple B. The results of the test, done on the 1st are already outdated and no longer valid..... If it's the 12 day variety test.... the validity of test results can be quite in valid.
Just something to think about... use a condom or it's all about taking a chance. Note: Very few cases of HIV have been reported where swinging has been involved. You would be more likely to get Chlamydia or HSV or a runny nose than HIV.... or other serious STD's. Most people in the lifestyle who are not the jump in bed every 2 seconds and just for the sex without regard for their partners....but just like you and me..... Down to earth careful people who want to experience fantasy without fear.
Enjoy

FYI: the 3 month window period isn't accurate for everyone. We are both in the healthcare field and know from lots of research, experience, and education that there have been circumstances in which the person tested negative for 2 years after contact with HIV. The 3 month stnadard is just the most common window period length (where you test negative for it but in reality do have HIV and can transmit it). We are always hypervigilant about who we get together with. Sometimes its a real mood breaker to stop and ask about previous partners and getting tested, but we'd much rather go through that moment of being uncomfortable than contract a deadly infection. And yes, do remember that condoms are only about 76% effective against STI's (including HIV) and aren't effective against warts or current herpes exacerbations because open blisters may not be covered by a condom. Oh, and HIV can be transmitted through oral sex. In 2004, 7% of HIV cases were from oral sex alone. Anyway, just some facts.

So bottom line is as long as you are sleeping with more than one person you are at risk. Of course you can do all you can to minimize that risk but in the end it's still a crap shoot at best!
Kinda scary when you break it down to its least common denominator, isn't it?

HIV isnt a laughing matter. But I have a slightly humorous story about a test I had done in SLC. To fight in the state of Utah and every other state requires a HIV test. The ring Dr. that I was required to see first of all had an office in what appeared to be an apartment complex. I went into the receptionist slash secratary/ janitor. LOL that funny I dont care who you are. So she escorts me into the room and leaves. I wait for a bit nervous as hell and the Dr walks in. In his hands are the tubes for blood and a tourniguete deal. Without looking up he says anyone who has unprotected sex in the last 12 yrs has been exposed to aids. He then took my blood and left without ever saying another word. Scared the shit out of me! Needless to say I am a firm believer in ribbed condems worn inside out for my pleasure!
Well that's being pretty damned selfish.

There are many valid points in here, and I agree that your health is you're own responsibility.
My 2 cents: As for requiring medical certification, what do you base that on? Do you want your partners to get "re-certified" every time they have relations with a new couple??? How do you trust them to do that? I go in every six months for a full workup, I have to pay for the 2nd one out of pocket 100% because even though I have amazing insurance they still only cover 1 preventative appointment a year. Yes I understand you can go to Planned Parenthood for a screening at minimal costs, the results take 7-14 days because they get sent to county to be processed. Also a lot of STD's have incubation periods of anywhere from 3 days to 6 months, so you never know. To be honest I would never accept the word "I'm clean" from anyone... condoms are a must!
