We can only post three??
I thought there would be more entries by now. I couldn't buy a photographic ability.
I would love to submit some of my work, however, I am in need of several models that I could photograph and submit to this section. I cannot use previous work because of copyrights. Any ladies or couples interested? For now, contact me here through e-mail. Steve
THOUGHTGARDEN....wish he could post more, his work is divine!!!
Awesome pics peeps !!!!!
LOL sometime when I'm back in utah I need to get some shoots done! I've always wanted thought to do mine, His work speaks for itself!
May we showcase work here if we're not interested in the contest? I have many photos that are not of my wife so I don't put them in our profile. I'm not sure my location or schedule would allow "showcaseing one memeber per week".
You can absolutely do so.
A very Nice Bottom
For those that enjoy a little more risque
Ok this one IS the wife (gotta stay outta trouble). I am willing to help any locals with photos just email me.
Thanks for Looking,

Studio Series
Does anyone know what happened to ThoughtGarden, they cleaned out their profile. We were looking at making them our first Featured Photographer. Any ideas?
I wish we had more photographers to showcase their talents. Since we only have a few, we will try to use all of you. Each one of you will get your own month. We will let you know what month is yours.
It's still not to later for others to showcase their work.

Still alive and kicking

Anyone need a model? Lol I'd love for some pictures to be taken

I happen to live with a lady that I feel is the prefect model. The problem is that she lives with someone who lacks any artistic skills with a camera.

Indeed it is

The pictures or the model?

Well I was referring to the model

INCREDIBLE work my friend.
I would love ThoughtGarden to spend a day with my wife.

I am honestly not too sure what your intended meaning behind that statement was...however, rest assured my dear...that all of the women that I photograph, are quite "real".
They have breasts, appropriate female-based genitalia, they are someone's wife, mother and daughter.
Yet, more importantly, they have feelings.
Please be kind enough to not disrespect them. You may pick upon my talent (or lack thereof), my technique, or myself as a person all you wish...but please, the models simply don't deserve your piety.

Thank you TG! THAT is why you are the person I trust to do my photos!

Honestly, using photo shop in appropriate ways to touch up a little knick here or a pimple there, to me has no negative impact on the way a person takes photo's, quite the contrary actually! Why is this thread going from opinions about beautiful imagery (and I really think Thoughtgarden's and MarriedMan's are wonderful
) to disrespecting individuals for one thing or another? Not getting it!

Beautiful women are beautiful women, with or without photoshop. This is a raw image, with no touch up. Hope you all enjoy!!!!

Let's face it folks. Anyone with a 12 mega pixel camera and some $200 studio lights can do good indoors work. Really it isn't that hard. Read a book, set the lights as they say, snap, you are done. Move that outside and you have lots of elements to deal with. Real talent does not come from reproducing textbook shots but actually creating from the raw.
Call it arrogance or confidant. The choice is yours but the opinion is mine as a photographer.

REAL huh... I'm guessing but not sure, but I will take a shot in the dark here.. Real as in NOT put through Adobe Photoshop ? Much better way to say it is RAW.. like unedited photos..
Everyone needs to show there (RAW) photo's not this photoshop effects stuff after all this is a Featured Photographer and not a I can use Photoshop post.. Raw photos and then you will see who the REAL Photograper is..
I simply cannot let this go unanswered....
Since when did the art of Photography get limited to simply what comes as-is out of the camera? Have you forgotten about the almost lost-art of film developing, retouching and processing...you know, the one that existed before Photoshop came along? Keep in mind that Photoshop only mimics or reproduces digitally what has been done manually for over a century.
There will always be this stale argument between the out-of-the-camera purists, and those who elect to enhance their creative vision with the tools at their disposal. It matters not if you are referring to the digital format or the film-based format...the argument is still the same.
Technology has always been able to enhance a true artist's ability to create something from that amazing space of infinite possibility by offering ever-increasing tools to manifest what is held in the mind's eye.
Are there those who mask inadequacies and hide behind the one-click-wonders of Photoshop? Probably.
Do I care? Fuck no!
I choose to NOT spend my time worrying about who is more of a REAL photographer based solely upon the tools used for their output. That is simply a conversation about who has a bigger penis...and is completely irrelevant.
There is simply so much more to it than "RAW" photos...
If I see an image that inspires me...and moves me...and leaves an impression...I'm not concerned about how it was done. I simply enjoy the connection made between myself, as the observer, and the creator; the artist.
As an artist myself...THAT is my intention with my creations; to share my vision and connect with the observers...NOT to hide any shortfalls that I may have in my technique, execution or develpment of my creations.
I'm sorry that you are in such a confined artistic space that you fail to see that.
An artist is more than the sum of his tools and equipment, or the lack thereof.
Your argument is weak, and quite honestly, comes across as being snide and pious.
Peace....

Once again...you've missed what I was saying...

Good luck with that opinion - I know a few people who have spent more and still can't take a good picture and I see them post the results on quite a few modeling sites to actually entice people to pay them for their "services". Lighting is one thing, if you don't have any kind of an eye, you can spend millions and your photos will still be shit.

RAW are not the only instance of unedited photos - Jpeg, Gif, BMP, Tiff etc. are generally all in their unedited form straight out of a camera and generally speaking the only difference is size. Calling someone a REAL photographer because they don't use any post editing is a lmae argument - Ansel Adams manipulated his photos in the darkroom before there was digital cameras or software using lab techniques, as did many other famous REAL photographers. What a slap in the face to some of the photgraphers on here doing honest work - If really want "REAL" start using a Polaroid and try posting the pics here, because scanning them makes them UN-REAL...
I practice safe photography so you won't see my "raw" photos.
OK, Couldn't resist that one. LOL
I see TGs argument about being an artist. That is fine. Sounds like a trumpet playing calling a trombone player a non-musician. To me, apples compared to oranges.
I prefer to capture the image before me, not the image that is in my mind. So, call me a purist than. The only manipulation I use is to convert from Color to B&W.

Just like SEXED...you missed my point as well...evidenced in your statement concerning fruit and brass (huh?).
I am, in fact a musician. As a multi-instrumentalist, the thought would never cross my mind to refer to fellow musicians as non-musicians simply because they play a different instrument, tune, or simply read from a different clef.
That is absurd.
Unlike "some" individuals/photographers on this site, I have never referred to any other photographer that shares on Swingular as a non-photographer, simply based upon some sort of narrow definition and and argument of semantics, or merely because I don't agree with hie/her style.
You call what you shared opinion, I call it ignorant-arrogance....plain and simple.
On the parts of both parties in fact.
It's not what was said that I find distasteful, but it was the delivery of it. Where is the class and sophistication? Where is the pride in your trade, and respect for fellow photographers?
Whether or not we call ourselves purists, photographers, artists, portrait-specialists, or even consider ourselves someone who is totally RAW-zesty....there is one thing remains constant; we open the shutter, the lens gathers the photons, and and their essence is then recorded....we simply capture what we behold in front of us.
Whether or not we think we use the mind's-eye, or our physical eyes is an irrelevant argument.
We all use the same medium.
Get it?
Peace....

I have to weigh in with TG on this one, beyond even the fact that photos have been manipulated since the dawn of photography, no one is shooting a bellows camera and most people dont use or even own a light meter.
My D5 or my wifes D700 will both do an outstanding job of "capturing a raw image" if we just point them in the direction of a subject and press the shutter button. Given that, all a photographer would have to understand is the rule of thirds and when to break it to create artwork. I dont agree, what you have there is a snapshot, maybe a very nice snapshot but a snapshot none the less.
In my humble opinion photography is what it has always been 30% preperation (if i use hotshoes or studio lights is it really a raw image?) 30% in camera click, 30% darkroom digital or otherwise. Its how you use that remaining 10% that really seperates a photograph from an image.
Disclaimer: I am a heavy user of photoshop CS5, Lightroom 3, Assorted camera raw programs and once in a while some illistrator to throw in some vector ellement....so I am aware I might be a tiny bit biased lol

Using that theory anyone with paints and canvas could replace the 'old masters'. If I choose to control the lighting (and other things) or make adjustments in software makes me no less of a photographer than anyone else. I have even seen amazing images done with a old 2-3 mega pixel digital and I've also seen some pretty crappy images come from the 4x5 film of old. Just my 2 cents.....
My husband and I have a passion for all forms of art; music, scultpture, paintings, and especially photography. We chose to photograph the human figure specifically because the human figure is amazing, it contains delicate lines and shapes that have the power to facinate the eye. Much of our time, talent, and creativity is dedicated to every photo that is taken.
We are not here to argue over who is the best; that is irrelevant. In fact, each and every photo that has been posted has been beautiful in its own way. We truly enjoy seeing other people's work. Every person's definition of beauty is different and it is fun seeing it through another's point of view.
The models deserve our full resepect and that also means respect in their choice of photographer. They have entrusted him/her with capturing and preserving their beautiful figures, and as TG pointed out, it can be a very uncomfortable experience, I know. They have put themselves out there, and it hurts our models to have their photographs, and their photographer's techniques, disrespected in any way.
It honestly doesn't matter to us how all of you take your photographs, my husband and I will enjoy them just the same.
We just ask for respect. Thank you.

TG, You know what I think of your work. It is simply, The Best. I may go out and get me a Kodak Brownie, and see what I can capture...Love a good snap-shot
If anyone wants to be showcased I would love to do a shoot for you. I have done numerous creative shoots for friends, I always give them the card and work, for their privacy. I have always done that for their benifit, as its just a fun hobby. Just upgraded my equipment, and would love to find someone that wouldn't be opposed to being showcased. If you aren't comfortable being showcased that is fine too.
I just picked up a newish Polaroid at a garage sale with about 2 and a 1/2 trays of film so if anyone wants some "Discrete" photos taken I'm the one for you.
