We've only ever used a run of the mill point-n-shoot digital camera. We just bought an entry level DSLR it's a Pentax K-X. We're interested in dabbling in a little more advanced picture taking. Do any of you shutter bugs out there have any helpful tips or tricks to help out someone totally new to this whole thing? Anything and everything would be appreciated.
~Thanks,
Ammend
ps: are there any introductory classes or groups that are offered free of charge for beginners?

Good luck!
Good luck!
AMMEND, Take Thoughtgarden up on their offer. I have been into photography since I was a pre-teen, my father owned his own photography shop. In MY humble estimation they (thoughtgarden) are the most creative and sensual photographers I've ever seen. They make me feel like an amateur. Learn from the best, you can't go wrong. Swing
P.S. I used to own my own swingers magazine (YES, I'm THAT old.) and if you would like information about WHAT you should photograph for a swingers ad. I'd be glad to help you there. Swing
Wow...thank you
Take pictures, take pictures, take pictures! The best way to learn is to practice as much as you can. You can learn so much in photography classes, but the best way is to just practice. I also recommend the podcast BC Phototips on itunes.

We did take them up on their offer. Unfortunately we don't even know where to start asking questions so we havent back from them yet.
