(I know my ass doesn't look that old but it is trust me)
Fakes have always plagued these boards, it was FAR WORSE when you didn't have the verification systems in place and while these are good they are still not a guantaree you are dealing with the real deal. The now infamous "Christylynn" was certified as a "real couple" and technically they were a "real couple" just not what you had planned on. You can e-mail someone back & forth till your fingers bleed but your will not truly know what's behind door number two until they walk through the door.
The best way to try and eliminate fakes and flakes is obviously to meet them in person. The only way to hope to be successful is NOT to plan an evening out with ONE COUPLE. Make it a point to attend as many meetings and functions as you can. Keep in mind that some poly people (some) turn their nose up at the idea of swinging, just as many swinging people turn their nose up at poly. Also don't be deterred if you start attending poly meetings and don't see the kind of people you normally hang out with, your tribe, so to speak. The benefit isn't finding your people as it is in meeting people with lots of experience with poly-relationships. You can learn from anyone who has been where you are heading.
Making up your own rules is great, so long as they work for you and your family.
Here in Utah there are circulating groups. We have swingers, poly, kinky, burners and in each group there are the core members (hardcore) and then there are those of us that circulate among them all. So, when attending meetings be aware that one day their might be four people, the next 40. Also that the opinions of the core members may not be representative of the life you three have created for yourselves and don't let anyone sway you from what you know works for you.

another club under fire - club in peoria - PEORIA -- City leaders in Peoria will soon consider an ordinance aimed at outlawing private swingers clubs where couples meet and swap partners.
The ordinance is aimed at a local business called Club 307. The club sits a couple of blocks from the Police Department and is reportedly a swingers club.
Mayor Jim Ardis told the (Peoria) Journal Star that the city doesn't have an ordinance preventing couples from paying to enter a club and swap partners. But he believes the city needs one.
City Councilman Eric Turner thinks many people are disgusted that Peoria has such a club.
Nobody answered a call to the phone number listed for the club on Friday, and there was no way to leave a message.
The council plans to consider the ordinance Tuesday.
