I think is a forced meme with more fuzz than action. But is relatively new, 4 yrs at most. You haven't missed anything. We would not approach anyone using an upside down pineapple because there are plenty of safer, foolproof ways to meet playbuddies. We have had our share of turn downs, but most we have found people just don't respond. From the few that actually took the time to respond I can't remember anyone doing more than saying no thanks.
