Swingers dying out? - Is the utah swinger community dying or becoming to needy? - I think the fact that the site hasn't offered lifetime membership specials for so long has really impacted people's ability to connect with newer couples. They come and go too quickly to really follow people, and only the older couples are here to stay, and they often already have their close friends and might not reach out as often. The monthly fee is just too steep for what you get here considering the current level of activity. Those who are lifetime members don't have to worry about losing connections when the don't pay the bill, but they grow tired of connecting with others only to see them disappear from the site for non-payment. Why Be In Utah? - - Actually I've always wondered the same thing about Florida. Substitute the crazy Mormons for the Bibile thumpers from Orlando north into the panhandle, add in the hurricanes, torrential rains, gaters, snakes and mosquitos...besides, I've heard the snow skiing is HORRIBLE there. But I'll bite.
1) No porn. You can buy dirty magazines but (unless you know where to go) hard core x-rate movies are technically illegal to sell. A non-issue in the internet age. If you're still buying dvd's at the local porn emporium you need to maybe update your computer or your media server or something.
2) No real beer. Again a myth. You can only buy 4% (by volume) beer in grocery stores but you can get full strength beer at state liquor stores, restaurants and places like brewery stores. Try getting ANYTHING to drink in some dry towns/counties in the Bible Belt.
3) True to some extent, although Salt Lake City itself is VERY eclectic and quite liberal politically. But at least our LDS lawmakers know basic female anatomy and have somewhat of a grasp of proven basic science. No kooky evangelicals freaking out every time someone mentions birth control or evolution.
4) Most people are afraid of Mormons? Really? I've heard they have horns and the missionaries CAN be a little annoying when you're fucking and they're ringing the doorbell but I don't think people are truly afraid. Besides, contrary to popular belief the swing scene here is alive, active and vibrant. I'd wager that per capita we have more, and more active, swingers than just about any place you can name. How did you get started? - - Well It Seems we all start somewhere so guess my story isn't that differant than alot of us.
I was 19 and in college at the time. One day I was in a local Video Shop and saw the Swingers magazines on the shelf. I thought to myself "what the heck, I'll try my luck!" It didn't take to long to get a responce from 4 of them but unfortunatly they all sent me a "no thank you" letter. About a week after that I finally got a reponse from the last couple I had written to. They had written asking me quite a few questions about me and what I liked and all that sort of thing to which I wrote them back a reply. {directly this time though} About 5 days latter I get a call from the man from the couple I had written to asking me if I would like to meet them over dinner sometime. We set up a meeting and it went very well. They where both attractive and in their 40's and we liked alot of the same kinds of things. Being new to all of this though I had assumed that something would happen right away if anything was going to. Wrong! I left that night thinking I was just not what they wanted after all or maybe they were uncomfortable with how much younger I was. The next day though I got a call from the man again asking me to meet with them again later that night at the same resturant, to which I ofcourse said "yes!" You can say After that night I was hooked! we met many times after that, almost weekly for awhile. Age differences - How do you handle it - We look to make some sort of a friendship with anyone we play with so we feel the best chance that would happen is if they were close to our ages but we have found many exceptions to that theory. We are just playing the odds that a connection is most commonly found with someone of similar ages.
The reason for this thread was because of conversation we were involved in at a party recently that we attended. People of all ages were there. I was sitting with a few older ladies, who I must say were very attractive, but then they started talking about all of their ailments and it almost makes me afraid that I might accidently hurt them if we played. I want to provide pleasure, not pain.
Also a few were saying they went to a big party and it was mostly younger couples who were dirty dancing and flirting but not really playing and they felt the younger swingers are not as sexual as the older people are. One rationalized it by saying that maybe the fear of pregnancy is the issue.
We try to be ourselves at all times and if we find common interests with a couple younger or older then us, great. Since we are somewhere in the middle we can go higher or lower then our ages. We would go higher then our ages first because of the experience and maturity factors hoping their experience will provide us some fun and share their knowledge with us. We wonder what those at either end of the spectrum think and what is their biggest concerns. Great input so far from everyone so thank you for that.
