They are married,do you concider them "single" then?My wife got my into the Lifestyle about 8 years ago and then she passed away 4 years ago,does that mean now that i am "single" that i shouldnt be in the Lifestyle? I am looking for a partner in the lifestyle and its not easy.I think that people who think "singles" shouldnt be in the Lifestyle really dont know what the Lifestyle is or what it represents.Sure,sex is a HUGE part of it but its not ALL of it.To me the Lifestyle represents the idea of people being themselves without being judged or riticuled for what the like or believe.Its about Adults being Adults doing Adult things with other likeminded Adults.Sex is the by-product of likeminded Adults getting together and having that certain "Spark",chemistry if you will,with the people they are around.To me,thats what the Lifestyle is about.If i am single,does that mean that i should give up those ideas and beliefs? where are the real people who want to swing - run into to many phonies - There are lots of "real" swingers that aren't "Ken & Barbies" out there. Of course, everybody's idea of "real" and "Ken & Barbie" differ becauase everybody has different tastes in appearance and what swinging is.
You will run across those on sites that are just testing the waters, putting up a profile and seeing if they are really ready to, or want to, do this. The key is perserverance. I would also recommend finding out where the clubs or parties are going on in your area and attending those. Meeting people in person can do allot more then just a few small pictures and a a hundred words or so.

Are we really as judgmental as vanilla people? - - Yes, many in the lifestyle are as judgmental as those outside. I am 15 pounds overweight but to some I am as broad ahat comess a battleship. What's more, after 34 years of marriage, 24 of which were in the lifestyle, my wife died. All of a sudden I was persona non grata at the club we attended because single males were not allowed. I had not changed, only my marital status. I have been pilloried and shunned because of being lumped with the FEW young single guys who don't have a clue. Now I have 3 strikes: I'm old, I'm slightly overweight, and single. I've learned these last 9 years that swingers are just as cruel, predjudiced and uncaring as other people. What keeps me going is all those swingers who truely accept me as I am.:z
STD Testing - How often are you tested? - The only thing is that the test results are pretty much only good for the day they were done. Unless someone gets tested and then stays in a vault cut off from anyone else until the test results come back there is no way to determine if they are still STI free. Even accounting for incubation periods an STI test is really only good for that MOMENT when your blood was drawn. Bottom line if you're going to swing first be okay with the real and inherent risks and second protect yourself to the extent that you feel okay with those risks. We do our homework about what diseases are out there and then act appropriately. To us it only makes sense to assume that EVERYONE has an STD (most adults are seropositive for HSV type 1 or 2 which are now almost interchangeable as to where they can and will induce a primary infection) and to protect ourselves accordingly. People that are super paranoid about sex cooties prolly shouldn't be swingers. JMO
Not even going to mention how some VERY common STI's don't have a reliable test and thus aren't routinely screened for.

We've had multiple occasions where people in the wild have introduced themselves to us as a result of the rings. Mostly when we were traveling (outside of Utah). It's really not a big thing in Utah, yet... but outside of the state it's catching on relatively quickly.

... Also worth noting... it's mostly catching on among the younger, "under 50s" crowd. The old-timers seem content to poo-poo any idea, concept, or trend that doesn't fit their definition of 'swinging'. (Including at least one person on here who spends, literally, every waking minute of his day trolling the forums making negative / sarcastic comments to anyone and everyone).
If you don't like the trend, don't do it... but there's no reason to pretend it's not real.
ALSO... Black Ring Society is going to be changing its name to SwingRing (mobile app name is changing as well... I'll start a separate thread on that). We think it's a more inclusive, shorter, and less confusing name..
