Age - New to the swingers community - is age a factor in how a couple is viewed? - Wow! It's adorable to read the comments of those 20 through 40's. We remember those years. There are times that memories of incontrolable thrusts and unconscious passion give pause, but experience... though overstated is under-rated. Though there are some "young'uns" out there that appreciate the gentility of exploring "water flow naturally to seek its level, impulses more often drive than draw." A young, (or young in experience) lady sometimes welcomes a partner who has gotten past the self-serving impulses of youth. As well, a young buck who seeks to find his stride can benefit from being unthreatened by the challenges of unknown expectations and often finds the same growth. The true deciding factor is, "are you into the trip, or just obsessed with reaching a destination you've never been to? A true sensualist finds pleasure in the textures of a rose petal and burlap to be different... but equal.
Young and eager - Tired of quarantine and ready to play - So i dont know about the rest of you but were tired of being shut in. Were young and ready to play and thinking about just saying fuck it. So we were thinking of doing something small and fun. Not so much a normal or big swingers or play party but something small. Thinking maybe 3 other couples for a bit of group fun maybe even go for an all nighter. A "slumber party" for adults. And with that wed also like to make this a under 40 limitation. Dating other Couples - Have you done it? - Been there, done that, have the t-shirt. We know plenty of people who've done it, and done it successfully (up to a point), ourselves included. We don't know of many, if any, where it has lasted for more than a few years and didn't end somewhat badly.
It CAN be quite heady and has the potential to take swinging to the next level. Unfortunately, it is also exponentially more likely to crank up the drama factor to eleven (out of ten).
Quite often each couple has their own "agenda" (for lack of a better term) that is often at odds with the other couple's agenda. We've seen it frequently cause weird jealousies not only between primary partners but also between non-primary partners and in a few extreme notable cases it has ended marriages.
In our case, we were relatively long-term swingers at that point who, although never really super active in the scene, felt like we'd checked off most of the things on our swinging bucket list and were somewhat curious if there was more out there to explore in swingerdom...or if we were sort of done with the scene.
The couple we started "dating" wasn't really the kind of couple we usually were attracted to and maybe that was part of the allure. They also had a very interesting (to say the least) dynamic in their marriage that really was at odds with that in our relationship. Ultimately they kept pushing boundaries (started throwing the "L" word around and much more), pushed for more and more separate activities and were insidious in slowly and subtly causing rifts, both large and small, as well as a LOT of drama. We actually didn't even realize how much drama and subterfuge had occurred until we were finally out of the situation entirely.
We actually miss them a little, at times, and often wonder if there might have been a way to talk things out and come to a better understanding of how to continue on in a healthier way but they've actually gone on to do exactly the same thing to a number of other couples we know (it's a small world in Utah swinging and word gets around) and it seems to be their pattern.
Tldr; It can work. It's quite rare when it works long term. It has the potential for disaster. While it's appealing in many ways we don't really recommend it. YMMV
lifestyle survey - - Got into this by talking about our fantasies, roll playing a little in bed, reading stories about swinging in magazines. Background...grew up, like many here in Utah, in ultrconservative households where sex before marriage was forbidden. Met in college and married young because we were SO fucking horny. STD testing and physicians - who and where - The Utah Aids Foundation in Sugarhouse does walk in testing Mondays and Thursdays. They test for HIV (rapid results, you get them before you leave the clinic), and chlamydia and gonorrhea for free. The chlamydia/gonorrhea are just urine for the free tests, and since they are localized infections, paying for the self collect oral/anal tests are worth it as well ($25/each), as people frequently have those without realizing and while testing clean with their urine tests. My one complaint with there is that they take a while to get results (about a week) and I felt a little talked down to when they pull you into a room to talk about safe sex and using condoms; however, that is a small price to pay for the service you are getting.
While, as swingers, those are the two big ones to worry about, it is worth also going to your family physician to get tested for a full panel every few months (I do every 6/8 months for the full panel), since they aren't as common but can still affect people.
If you need something quickly and want to avoid paying too much, the best experience I have had is actually at the Salt Lake County Health Department near downtown (http://slco.org/health/std-clinic/testing-treatment/). They charge per test, and they are the least judgmental and most sex-positive place I've found. The only downside is that they don't take insurance, so it doesn't count against your deductible, and getting an appointment can be hard, but they do take walk ins.
Safe sex is fun sex, team! Let's all slut it up like crazy but keep it safe. We all have an obligation to police ourselves, and if something happens, take care of that shit!
Swingers Vacation Spots - Help us - Our dream swingers vacation would have be in mexico,there are several resorts there that cater to the swinging lifestyle. They are all inclusive as well. We are planning a trip to hedo next yr and when I went to their site there was a schedule of times when it was swingers mostly. Favorite bars in utah - - We go to Club 90 usually on Saterday nights & we Dance alote & with other couples hopping they are swingers but it seems they are not so it would be nice if we could all wear a ring or something that lets others know we are in to the same swinging style that they are & it would help take the guess work out of it.
