Hey Everyone, We would love to go to Burning Man this next year but aren't quite sure how to get tickets. It appears that you need to be with a group to get them. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! XO
Go to the burning man website create a profile and next January try your luck at buying a ticket on the opening day. Tickets sell out all 70,000, in less than 2 minutes.
Actually the lottery only sells around 50,000 tickets. This year we actually turned back 3 tickets and 4 early entry permits when we had folks cancel due to conflicts. We love going in on Wednesday befor the event. We take three days to set up camp. Relax all day Saturday and start welcoming in burners on Saturday night at midnight when the gates open.
We believe being part of an art installation is the easiest way to go. The camp next to us had 30 members arrive on the Monday prior to build their art piece. They were done when we arrived on Wednesday morning. They then watched us for three days set up camp. We will admit we only worked around 4 hours a day due to the heat.
As to the theme camp process, mrs simple spends around 100 hours drafting and submitting the paperwork for the camp.
This year we just ran a bar for two hours each day as our guide to the burn. We had a great camp, no a single problem all week.

Well to answer your question, Yes its easier to get tickets if your part of a theme camp or part of a builders group. They assign a certain number of tickets so the builders and support staff can go in early. We did the website lottery with numerous laptops running at the same time and were able to get tickets last year. Its an incredible experience if you land them, just be prepared when you go out there. Its the most spiritual, party spot on earth and desolate self reliance at the same time.anyway good luck and may the playa for ever be in your favor.
