Swingular - Swingers

Swingers Forum - STD testing and physicians

We have been testing regularly since our inception into the world of fluids and random acts of violent sex but so far have been paying a lot for it. We have been going to the health clinic and pay a few hundred dollars for each test. Though expensive, worth it. We hope everyone is also getting tested and playing as safe as possible.
My question is this. Does anyone have a Primary Care doc who is lifestyle friendly or know of any lifestyle docs who they go to?
Are there other places that people go to get tested, and what is the pricing?
Would it be beneficial for Swingular ( and maybe they have it and I just haven't found it) to have a list of sites for testing and costs listed so members can quickly find a service?

My friend tells me she goes to the Aids Foundation on 14th south does it for $40 on Monday and Thursdays, but I haven't confirmed that yet.

I know I am clean, but I don't trust the rest of you savages. :)
The Utah Aids Foundation in Sugarhouse does walk in testing Mondays and Thursdays. They test for HIV (rapid results, you get them before you leave the clinic), and chlamydia and gonorrhea for free. The chlamydia/gonorrhea are just urine for the free tests, and since they are localized infections, paying for the self collect oral/anal tests are worth it as well ($25/each), as people frequently have those without realizing and while testing clean with their urine tests. My one complaint with there is that they take a while to get results (about a week) and I felt a little talked down to when they pull you into a room to talk about safe sex and using condoms; however, that is a small price to pay for the service you are getting.

While, as swingers, those are the two big ones to worry about, it is worth also going to your family physician to get tested for a full panel every few months (I do every 6/8 months for the full panel), since they aren't as common but can still affect people.

If you need something quickly and want to avoid paying too much, the best experience I have had is actually at the Salt Lake County Health Department near downtown (http://slco.org/health/std-clinic/testing-treatment/). They charge per test, and they are the least judgmental and most sex-positive place I've found. The only downside is that they don't take insurance, so it doesn't count against your deductible, and getting an appointment can be hard, but they do take walk ins.

Safe sex is fun sex, team! Let's all slut it up like crazy but keep it safe. We all have an obligation to police ourselves, and if something happens, take care of that shit!
I've heard Dr. Young is pretty discreet when it comes to, like, sex stuff.

Ironically, I was listening to a podcast yesterday that talked about this and an at home testing option. You can purchase at home tests directly from mylabbox.com or from amazon.com or walmart.com. It costs $145-189 depending on what you test for. It sounds extremely convenient, is from the privacy of your home, results typically in 24-72 hours of the lab getting your samples and stays anonymous. If you test positive for anything, they will provide counseling and a prescription as part of the service at no additional charge. Remember, I just heard about this yesterday, so I have not used them. However, I am seriously thinking about using them next time because I do worry about what profile information my insurance carrier collects on me and any possible ramifications as a result of that, and I really don't want a lecture from my health care provider.

Keep in mind, a lot of STI/STDs have a 3 month incubation period, especially if you are testing urine instead of a direct swab test. It is also important to have a swab test in any area that could possibly be infected (that means don't forget the mouth, throat and anus).
We have separate primary care physicians and I haven't really had to explain anything in the past. I've just asked to be test and boom there goes 10 gallons of blood. We get tested every month. This was suggested by a friend in the lifestyle. I'm not sure how long it takes an STD to show up on test results once contracted so we'd rather be safe than sorry. But that being said neither of us have ever tested positive for anything. We've been lucky to meet and play with great ladies and couples. Oh and by the way I can't tell you how much we do appreciate the couples that are open about having an STD.

Good information.
I go to uvu clinic its nice and cheap
Primary care physicians twice a year covered by our insurance and Salt Lake County twice a year paid out of pocket. We test clean!
Deliciouslywet, why do you switch from one to the other? Insurance purposes or something else?
Something to also keep in mind is that HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) 1 (typically cold sores but also can be genital) or 2 (typically in the genital area but can also be around the mouth as well) is NOT on the standard STD panel test. You have to request an Igg test to be tested for that.

Insurance and we can't decide which has the hottest nurses.
