Swingers Forum - Android Upload App

line
Previous Post Next Post
Swingular is proud to announce the launch of our first native mobile app and we are currently looking for testers.

This is app is for Android 2.2+ users and is our Media Uploader app. We custom built this app specifically for use with Swingular to ensure your security and privacy.

For your privacy & protection and to prevent lookie loo's from discovering Swingular on your phone, this app was named Media Uploader and nowhere does it mention Swingular. It discretely uses just the single letter 'S' logo for identification purposes.

FEATURES
  • Upload photos from your mobile device.
  • Select photos from your photo gallery or take new pictures with your camera.
  • Add captions to photos.
  • Automatically find and blur faces option.
  • Delivery to your mobile album folder which only friends can view.

IF YOU WISH TO TEST, just click the icon below or snap the QR code from your Android device and you will be allowed to install it.

Please report bugs, comments and suggestions in this forum post.

IF YOU EXPERIENCE A BUG...
Please tell us about your phone including Model number and Android version. You can find your this information by going to SETTINGS -> About Phone.

Thanks,

Rob

Go to your apps menu and find Media Uploader.

I have installed successfully on Android 4.0.3. Sorry no earlier versions available to test on.

SHOW OFFS! LOL
I'm on Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) and have the same issue. Usually the play store will allow you to launch an installed app from its interface. The button is entirely missing in this case.

You should be able to see the app in your app list. Have you checked there?
I have the same problem. It says it is installed, but doesn't appear in my list of apps. I just had a thought thought. I don't know if it would be possible, but it would be great if your app could add an entry to the menu when I am looking at a picture and I hit the "share" button. If it had a "media uploader" option so that I don't have launch a separate application. It would be similar to how I can post to facebook directly from the photo. :)
Thanks for the bug reports, it appears our latest update removed the icon from the app launcher, we will be submitting an update here in the next few minutes. Be sure to update to the latest version. Thanks.

Great idea. We are looking at ways to do this since our app will not keep you logged in for more than 12 hours if you don't log out. This is for your security.

It may be that it launches the app but you still have to log in before uploading. We'll figure it out.

Thanks.

You might also consider using Google's SSO mechanism, and enable users to associate their accounts that way. Then things like Share intents work seamlessly.

I'm not a programmer, but I don't think I would care if someone was somehow able to upload a photo without me knowing...but you're right about the security if they can see my mobile album. I don't know if it's possible, but perhaps you can make it so that it leaves you logged in only with respect to uploading pics (so that the share feature works) and make people log in if they want to see or edit the mobile album????
Tried to upload it again and still not working
The latest update is now available in the Google Play market. If you installed the app prior to the update, you can force an update yourself.

It works great...I think for my money the "email" feature is still the easiest way. I have a contact on my phone saved with our email and I just send the picture to that email and the subject becomes the caption. But If you can get it to where I don't have to launch a separate ap to do it, I think this would become a winner for me. I do like the fact that I can do multiple photos. Haven't tried that by email yet.
I down loaded it... not real clear what I can do from the app other than upload pics.

That's basically it....except you can edit photos in the "Mobile" album too once you put some there....It's just a photo upload ap. :)
It is definitely easier to just txt the pic to your private pics than use the app.
I downloaded it in just the last half hour. (740mst) on Android 4 (6.16.217 version xt894). freezes on me when i click on the only link to enter
Downloaded to my galaxy s3 and it just goes black and locks up my phone for a min
Hmm, the only capability that it seems to have whatsoever is upload. I can't see what's already been uploaded. I have a few files that it absolutely refuses to upload, but yields no information as to why.
I'd made a bug report through the app about another problem with it not being able to be suspended to background, and recovered. In case that didn't go through, here's what logcat had to say about it.
The following is from aLogrec --
Code:

?: E/AndroidRuntime(12469): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to resume activity com.swingular.uploader/com.swingular.uploader.UploadQueue: android.database.StaleDataException: Attempted to access a cursor after it has been closed.
?: W/ActivityManager(718): Force finishing activity com.swingular.uploader/.UploadQueue
?: W/ActivityManager(718): Activity pause timeout for ActivityRecord421e68c0 com.swingular.uploader/.UploadQueue
?: W/ActivityManager(718): Force removing ActivityRecord420cbf00 com.swingular.uploader/.GallerySelect: app died, no saved state

I couldn't find anything meaningful in the logs when the pics failed to upload.

We just downloaded the app, we'll give it a test run this weekend, so far no issues, have ver 4.04.

+1

A mobile app with searches, mail notification, and some real functionality would be super!

I've seen them for other sites, how difficult could it be? I know that it can be done and done well for under $2K.

Would be an excellent addition to the site!
Tried app from both a samsung galaxy centura and my wifes galaxy S4 both phones and both accounts give a login error.
I got the app, but when I try to connect with my swingular login, it tells me invalid login
it keeps saying invalid login Samsung Galaxy S5 4.4.2
I downloaded it but it won't let me do anything without logging in... won't let me use my user name and password from the website... doesn't give an option to set one up either... Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910 Android version 4.4.4
